Yes it was, and more. I expected there to be only lumberjacks looking for wives there. (I heard about there being more men than women up there.) I did not expect to see all the jewelry stores and that the people were so easy to talk to. [suspenseful]

This is something I have always wanted to do; I've only been on a cruise once (to Greece and Italy), but I am not a good sailor...too much motion sickness. Still, I think I would risk it for Alaska, because they say that is the best way to see many of the things that make Alaska so special. What cruise line did you use? I got a DVD from Cruise West, and their Alaska trip looked awesome. They use small ships (vs. big liners). Sounds like you had a great trip. [AnythngArt]
You went the reverse of our trip. We ended in Juneau and we went everywhere else first. Isn't the inside passage great? Take care [writersedge]

In 1996, My Mother and I went on the Norwegian Cruise line through the inside passage (islands leading up to Alaska) between the coast of Canada and the islands of Alaska. We had the time of our lives. It was absolutely wonderful. We stopped at every island. Each one was different with different things to do and sign up for. Our final stop was Juneau. That was the only mainland port. The food was great, but a lot less than an American is used to (onboard the ship). The tours at each place were wonderful and we even took a helicopter ride over a mountain, landed on an iceberg and walked on it. Bring a really good Camera. Esp. one that can do panoramic views. You'll be glad you did. [writersedge]
We took so many pictures, they practically filled one Cd. And the food, delicious! And not having to do the dishes or the laundry! [suspenseful]
