Cruise Ship Sickness...

...I have never been on a cruise ship but I hear how more and more cruise ship riders get very sick on these voyages. Is there a problem with the food preparation/handling on board? Please advise.

I never took a cruise ship either.but I heard about people getting sick from cruise ships all the time on the news.and they had on Montel where people had got raped or died on cruise ships and nothing was really done about it.because he said once the ship leaves after you board it.you are their property and they can do anything they want to you.and noone can't do anything about it.so I won't be taking any cruise ship ever. Wow, thanks for this info and post. + [howard96h]

I used to get quite seasick when i was young and then when I learned to fish and sail and it simply went away.. I don't really know if one outgrows it or what. After a day of sailing and loving it, I have a little trouble finding the land legs again, but not feeling sick. After all that , you wonder where I am going. Well I once travelled on an ocean liner and you would think on a ship that big you wouldn't be sick. O WAS I!! but I have also been on a rocky sea on a small cruise ship and rather enjoyed the cruise, no sickness at all. Also having eaten there as well, I cannot even blame the food. hmmm does it depend WHERE you cruise too, maybe.. the food you may eat ashore? okej Howard, ya got me! I will be following this post to see what the smart cruisers know and will share! g'luck! [fjaril]

The only cruising ship I know about is the the Titanic, wow, I would never want myself to be in it. No one would have wanted if they knew about its fate. But otherwise, in today's world I don't think these ships hold much excitement, you can do much of what you do in it, even otherwise. [cultoffury]
Yes what a terrible experience what those people went through. Thanks for your response. + [howard96h]

no, it is not hte food.everyone feels this way usually on their first time because our body is not use to the constant motion of twirling that makes us dizzy. it is the same feeling when go on rides to a rollercoaster, ferris wheel and other rides. [tigerdragon]
I understand what you mean - motion sickness. Thanks for your reply. + [howard96h]

there are already many news about sickness on cruise ships. highly publicized outbreaks of gastro intestinal illness are usually the culprit. newspaper headlines have announced a highly contagious virus, the norwalk virus. the ship can become a breeding ground for these micro organisms, quickly spreading from one person to another in such a confined space and close living quarters of an ocean going vessel populated by hundreds or even thousands of people. when it strikes, the result can be 24 to 48 hours of nausea, vomiting, diarrea, low-grade fever and abdominal pain. my advice is, never go on cruise ships. The norwalk virus, thank you for this information. So this is the virus that causes all the sickness on board the cruises. Thanks for your response. BR + [howard96h]
