Do You Like To Travel Alone

Now a days it's hard to see alone/single person travelling. Everywhere we see couple or with friends. Travelling with friends makes fun or what? I think it's good to travel alone specially for authors, researchers.. etc. If you love to travel alone then what are the benefits?

[question posted by vine88]

responses and comments:

I usually travel alone. From my home to my workplace, and from my workplace to my home. It's not difficult to travel alone. Traveling alone has its own advantages and disadvantages. The advantage is that there is no one to disturb you when making a decision where you will eat, where you sleep, where you eat, where you sit down and rest, where you go, and no extra bills. It's also good that sometimes, we travel with others. [learn2earn]
Thanks, learn3earn, ya you are right, if your friends don't like to pay.If GTPS( going together paying separate) is apply to all friends then it's fine. You are right for making decisions. Ya if we travel with friends then we must go where he wanna take too. [vine88]

Traveling with friends or your beloved makes the trip more exciting. If you traveled alone,it would be absolutely boredom.Trips and vacations are very personal things and it's better to be shared with your closest people. [sylqqmedin]

No, dear i don't like to travel alone because i have travel once its very boring to travel alone. [binagupta]

I have done both traveled with others and have traveled alone. I rather travel with at least one other person. I think its more fun to travel with others it makes the trip more enjoyable as long as that person has a fun personality. If you are travelling alone researching that is a different story because then you need consentration as to your research. You can't afford to have distractions. Since I'm not a researcher I prefer to travel with others. [lelin1123]

Sometimes ,I like travelling alone because I want to consider some thing but don't want somebody to disturb me. But,at the most time, I like travelling with my friends. [lassielee]

I rarely like to travel alone, and only if i have to sleep more..:) But in picnics and tour programs i love to have someone with me. I love to talk abt the sights along the journey. So having a friend with me is so much fun. [delbin]

Only on work I travel alone- otherwise what is the fun in traveling on a holiday if alone? And yes people in the creative line tend to be alone and aloof to think on their works. [udayrao2]

I have traveled long distances alone. I have always been on a plane flight alone, except for when I was very small. All of our family vacations were on the East Coast and involved a car. It's adventurous, but I have never been on a plane with a bf before. I would like to. I have just been poor or dated guys who were either cheap pr didn't have much money; nothing in between. [coffeegurl]
hi Coffeegurl, interesting story. [vine88]

actually I don't like to travel alone. it is very quite to be. I think it is more fun if we travel with family or friends. of course there are some benefits and disadvantages if we travel alone or if we travel with family or friends. [emine08]

The benefits of travelling alone vine, is that there is on one else there to compromise with. The disadvantage however is that it can be unsafe to be alone in strange areas. [OceanTiara]
Well Vine, I would travel with my grown son now..he is very big hahahlol [OceanTiara]

hi there vine88, as much as possible I dont want to travel alone..I want to travel with a friend, special someone and of course my family. I only travel alone form work place to home lol..happyhappyhappy [dorothy09]

alone, less concerns, more time for your personal interests, less expenses too... ^_^ It's kind of scary to travel alone... But if you have a companion, it might be a little more expensive than being alone but it would be worth the fun... ^_^ I guess.. [jd107nette]

In the past I loved to travel on my own. These days I need to travel with my disabled toddler son and my baby daughter. I enjoyed traveling alone because it offered me the chance to go exactly where I wished. I was able to stay in accommodation of my own choice. It was lovely to be able to sightsee during the day and rest in the evening time. I was able to meet the local people and they liked chatting to me. When I traveled with my ex-boyfriend he didn't always agree with the choice of destination. I knew which sorts of places appealed to him. It is unfortunate that he liked expensive accommodation and I liked budget places to stay. In Turkey he found us a 5 star hotel in Istanbul. In the Seychelles we almost ran out of money. We had a romantic time so that was really special. The benefit of traveling with someone else is he or she can look after our luggage whilst I find accommodation. It we need to make a decision two heads are better than one. [maximax8]

There is still some good in traveling alone. You do not have to worry about your family members being late for the bus. You can also go on free and easy programme. We travel alone sometimes because we need to find ourselves. It is a sort of personal retreat.blinkblink [jonjee0203]

I do not travel alone because if something does happen to me no one will really know. I also prefer to be people because it does make the trip better. You have someone to talk to , bounce ideas off. Get a different perspective if you are doing research. If traveling alone then I would think it be for a reflective moment. I would want to clear my head and think things through that I cannot do when others are around. Maybe If am having a personal issue and do not want outside distractions at that time. [newtalent]

It has been a long time since I have traveled alone. I really enjoy sharing the journey. On the other hand, if you are alone, all the decisions are yours and there is not discussion. You stop whenever you need or want to and look at what you want to see. [GardenGerty]

I did not remember in my life I travel alone. I easily afraid of going in the place if I'm not used to it. Traveling with friends so enjoying, fun, laughing and more stories to be shared. Traveling lonely I guess he has a purpose on it. Don't want to be distracted, disturb of his plan for that activity. I go for traveling with peers or friends , the bonding is a great big of help us unity for us here. [geniustiger]

Hi Vine, I travel a lot for work. so, i travel alone for business trips. but of course for personal trips i love it with my husband and kids. it's kinda boring traveling alone. being with the family is a great bonding time. i used to orient the kids about the place, landmarks and stories behind it. happy time together. [msfrancisco9369]

I've done extensive travel doing it alone. The benefits are you don't have to worry about whether the other person/people are enjoying themselves, what they want to see and do, if they want to eat and where, if they need to go to the bathroom... I like traveling with people, but I'm just as happy traveling alone. [hofferp]

reall dont but when I do there is always other people on the flight that you can talk too! [Lakota12]

No, I do not like traveling alone because its boring. If there is no one to travel with me I choose to carry laptop for sure so that I do not spend time staring others doing nothing. Its good to look outside if traveling in train and enjoy the nature. For people who like to read and write, its good to travel alone. I do read novels in journey but never tried to write anything. probably next time I will give a try to writing. [AjaySinghBaghel]

No i don't like to travel alone.. i feel very boring when i traveled alone.. i think atleast one persons must be with you if you traveled.. because if you have atleast one friends with you then you feel good in traveling .. have a nice day and keep mylotting always..happy [anurag3786]

I can't say I like traveling alone. I view it to be something dangerous. But I do travel alone at times.. but not to very distant places that I am not familiar of. >_< Traveling alone may seem to be a good idea but >_< safety wise its not.. [snowdoll487]

Yeah, I have to agree with you too. There are more and more people travelling either in pairs or a group nowadays. However, there are also still a number of people who do travel alone, and these people are mostly singles without a partner or girlfriend. I would have to confess that I am in the "single" category, so most of my travels are alone. Sometimes I do wish that I have someone to accompany my on my trip, while sometimes I am thankful that I travel alone too - so a bit of mixed feelings there. lol Sometimes you wish someone was there with you to share the fun and excitement during a trip as well as to help you to take photos, but sometimes you also wish for freedom to explore where you want without being influenced by another person. But I guess if I were given a choice, I would still prefer to travel with someone else because I am one who loves to SHARE....happyniceday [gerald_lian]

i have never tried to travel alone dont know if its safe it may get borin [poojaparthasarathy]

I don't mind the thought of traveling alone, but I have gone with groups of more than one mostly. It kills the boredom of the road [palegemini]

Perhaps traveling alone or with someone depends of what type of person are you. If you are introvert, then you are more prefer to travel alone and you would find it helpful to you. If you are extrovert on the other hand, maybe you would find it boring to travel alone without someone to talk with. However, if you are traveling for a purpose, let's say a environmental project where you need to gather ideas from your trip, then it is helpful to travel with someone so that you can solicit ideas from him/her. Yet, if your travel needs some concentration that you are supposed not to be intervene by other people, then it is good to travel alone... the best example is if your are plotting and writing some fiction stories. [primeaque86]

It depend upon the situation and my mood when i travel. If i feel happy then i would like to travel with my friends and family. But if i feel that I need to be alone it's good for me to travel alone and with much distance away from my place. So I can think well. But the best is traveling with the family. Have a nice day!happy [mods196621]

hi. i see more risks than benefits of traveling alone, especially on long journeys. your life and your property become very vulnerable to danger and theft. [tomitomi]

I don't like to travel alone. I need someone to talk to and accompany me in all my travels. Having a friend to talk to on a journey is a lot of fun. [zandi458]

There are good points in both. I don't get a chance to travel alone often sinc eI usually tavel with my husband. When you do travel alone, the tradeoff for the lack of companionship is that you can do whatever you want to do on your own schedule. I know that when DH and I take a trip that there have been times that I would have liked to stay a bit longer at a museum or whatever and I've visited things that don't have a lot of interest to me but he wants to see them. Same goes for restaurants etc. I've never taken a long trip alone just a couple of business trips. [LaurenInLA]

Hi vine88! I sometimes do travel alone especially on business trips. It's a bit sad because I don't have anyone to talk with. Travelling alone has advantages and more disadvantages. The advantage is that you can go wherever or whenever you want to without to wait for someone or receive opinions from others regarding on where to go. I enjoy travelling with my family and friends, they make the trip more fun and exciting. Happy mylotting! happy [sachii315]

Well it really depends on what the travelling is for. I usually travel alone, but if it's for leisure I always have other people to travel with. It's fun. But when I do travel alone, the good thing is, I am more focused and able to think about work stuff. Or if I do not have work to do, I can still enjoy being alone while travelling because I sometimes enjoy being quiet. [kquiming]

I think it's fine to travel alone. There would be benefits to travel with friends of family but traveling alone could be fun too. I remember going on vacation with my mother once and she thought it was so sad their was a woman traveling along. I thought that woman was fine since she's happy. I think as long as someone can enjoy themselves, it doesn't matter if they travel with company or not. [animegirl334]

Not really because it can be dangerous traveling alone. I can travel alone, but often times like to travel with people because I feel safer. I love to travel, but lately it feels like traveling can be hassle depending on what place you are going to. [rogue13xmen13]

No I dont prefer to travel alone because its not always safe to take trips alone especially if your going out of town or state, because people disappear more and more these days, especially women traveling alone is not always a good idea besides traveling can be more fun with friends.happy [apples99]

I like to travel alone here in my own country of Australia. I enjoy exploring things at my own pace without having to worry about what others want to do. I like to stop and take side roads and explore the area fully. I do like to share my trips with my family, but at times, I would prefer to be able to do my own thing. When it comes to travel in foreign countries though, I would prefer to have company as it can be daunting trying to work out local customs and language barriers on your own. I have travelled to a few different countries and was glad to have a fellow Australian to travel with. Even if it did mean the end of our friendship after we returned. I think we each realised on the trip that we were really not that compatible as friends and really only had the trip in common. niceday [RawBill1]

Not only do I not like to travel alone but I dont like travelling......period!! I did before when it was "safer" but lately, I find its not safe to travel anywhere. You never know if there wont be some nut on the plane getting ready to blow it all up or how tired the pilots are (we had a tv program here saying how tired pilots are) so I feel safe at home and when I want to know what some other country looks like, I google it!! [MagicalBubbles]

It depends where I'm going. If I'm going just across town, I like to go by myself sometimes. If I'm going far away it's difficult because I need a PCA to accommodate my disability related needs. [cripfemme]

well I think most people do that for independence sake and or just wanting to be alone. As you stated, what are the benefits? well if one means to be social, there are no major benefits. [climber7565]

I actually enjoy traveling alone. I took a trip this past summer without my wife and kids, and had a great time. [bucklord]

Hi vine88, I have a family and if ever I have enough resources to travel, I'm planning to travel with them. Of course it's such a means of so much expenditures but I like to see my family to be happy and the most important is the word "bonding" with my love ones. [mercedlegurpa]

Travelling alone to a different place, it's much better if you have someone with you .. You can get lost together.. hekhek. [yresh12]

China is one of the best destination for us to visit, for its long-time history and tradition.China has developed a creative country, want to know more about China cultural and creative industries Search it on the website: http://english.ccitimes.com/ [Toann07]
Well, friend, my question is not about China. Every country is good country to travel. Every country has unique cultures. Any way thanks for your response, your answer is not related to my questions. [vine88]

most of the time i want to travel alone. it makes my business easy without having to think about someone who may complain. i can eat when i want or if i want to, do things at my own pace wihout thinking somebody is waiting, things like that. unless im of for a family vacation of course. [animated]

Hi vine88,No,I don't want to travel alone.I used to travel with my husband and sometime with my friend to talk to.But there were times that I'd travel alone specially for emergency reasons.Have a nice day. [Hazelrose]
ya, travelling with family is really good, it will be good for relationship also. First priory is for family and then friends. Every body said travelling alone is dangerous... [vine88]

I don't really know benefit traveling alone, I go traveling alone if feel need time alone to gain my spirit and I will travel to place that not really crowded so I can make my own sanctuary ( in other hand it says I will never go to Bali if I sad, I will go to Sangalaki). If I am I good mood I prefer go with my friend and family, its cheaper we can share room. [nangisha]

i have always travelld alone. you can make tons of friends while youre traveeling, i can bet yam, cause i have some personal experience. when you travel alone you are responsibel nly what you do and where to go etc. that's what makes it fun! [imajoker]
hi , Joker, You said your name is Joker. Any way thanks for your response. You yourself said your are a joker, i don't think you need friends to travel, by making jokes you will make friends where ever you go i think. You are good to your point. Can't deny. Thanks [vine88]

I never travel alone when if I'm going far. But if it's just like from my parent's house to the city, then I prefer to travel alone, or with my boyfriend. Usually when I travel, I just like to sit there and listen to my ipod, I don't really want to talk through out the travel, and I just want to relax. When I'm with friends, it seems that we have to talk all the way to our destination and we can't just sit there and look out the window which I love doing, so as much as possible I don't travel with friends. Hehe. lol [Ingkingderders]
Thanks, You are the one who likes to be as you want. Your answer are really good. Ya, you can't do what ever you like, when you are with friends. If you are alone you can do what ever you like, you can relax.. and so on. seems that you don't like crowds.. you are peace loving nature... any way thanks for your answer. [vine88]

I can travel alone. I like it more because I can go wherever I want without waiting my partner's decision. I can enjoy without any interruption. My focus is not disturbed. [bangix]

hi, Travelling alone or with a group whatever be i like both ways and enjoy the things. If someone interfere i dont care if travelling in a group. And planning is the main think while going to a travel whether it is alone or with a group. [raj_ka]

I couldn't begin to imagine travelling alone. I've never done it in my entire life and I don't think that I would be happy travelling by myself. I really like to have another person with me because it makes it easier on me to have someone that I can talk to and it is also very nice to be able to take pictures of or with someone that you know as opposed to just being yourself throughout the entire trip. Now I travel with my family, but in the past I travelled a lot with my friends. [dorannmwin]

I love to travel with friends or with my family, coz you're right vine it makes a lot of fun. The reason behind why I traveled alone was financial. We can't enjoy if we have no money to spend what we want. While this happened especially due to family matters I directly go to the target to expense less. [libramie]

I dont like travelling alone. makes me feel so sad its as if all i feel so sad when i have to travel alone. Id rather stay home watch something or talk to a friend by phone than to be travelling alone. Dont get me wrong i travelled alone before but if you ask me if i enjoyed the trip? i say i didnt ;) [setsuna26]

Hello vine, It really depends on where I am going. If it is the just the travel from home to office or to a nearby destination, it's alright for me to travel alone. But if it is a long destination and if it is for vacation or outing, I would prefer to bring along my son and husband. It would be best to be with them on vacation so all of us will have fun. I also want my family to experience the things I am experiencing, so going on a long travel would be alot more fun if they are around. But as you said, for authors, researchers, writers, painter, and some other profession, it would be nice to travel alone so that nothing can distract them from doing there jobs. Happy mylotting! [red_amethyst]

traveling alone is less expensive and you don't have anything to think about except yourself. but its sure a boring one and not that safe specially if you are just new with the place. and i think its also depends on the purpose of your travel. if its for business then i guess its better to be alone to concentrate more on your purpose, but when its a travel for leisure...hmmm its better to have company to enjoy more the experience...happy [ckyera]
HI, ckyera, Thanks for your response.... both your sayings are good...most of the people i found from this question they are afraid to travel alone and security purposes.. travelling is for fun so they love to travel with best friend or groups. [vine88]

the truth is, i want to try and go travel alone.. but then sometimes i am just scared of going too far from home that i might run out of cash, run out of batteries as i do not want to worry my mom too much as well. i want to try, but i have never really gone out to do this. when i travel, i am almost always with my bf... or with my friends. travelling in groups is always safer. [chiyosan]

The benefits of travelling alone? You can go wherever you want to go, you can do whatever you want to do without disturbing anyone. You can take your time no matter how long you want to spend in a place. I never travelled to a far place alone before. [autumndreamer]
ya, autumn... you are right.... [vine88]

I love traveling alone, and I did often in the past. But sharing travels is another thing I love. It's difficult to describe a personal travel, the feelings that navigate in a heart, so travel with another person can help. But, for me, the REAL TRAVEL is inside yourself, unshareable. [coccodrillina]
Ya, that's great. [vine88]

Hello as a retired professor but active researcher i have to travel a lot attending workshops and seminars, for such i travel alone usually, some times in 4-5 days we can take our spouse with us, if so and if the place is of tourist interest i take my wife with me... Thanks for sharing. Sorry for late response.. Welcome always. happy Cheers.niceday Prof happy [Professor2010]
