Hello Everyone,
All of us for sure love traveling and with the easy access now with transport even thus who cant afford to travel in the 80's and 90's can travel now. For sure when we travel if we dont have friends we always stay in some hotels.
But I just like to know, if you are offered to stay in your friends house when you travel, would you? I just like to know because I think there is something wrong with me and my BF because when we travel even if its our relatives we dont stay with theme. Its just very uncomfortable unlike in the hotel you can do whatever you want.
Do you like staying with friends or hotel? Do you feel comfortable when you stay with your friends?

hello eve, yeah I like travel very much, during travel , I prefer to book a room in hotel rather than staying with my friends. Since you are there for travel, not there to visit your friends personally, so if you stay in their house but not stay with them for longer time, it would seems that you don't like to build a good relation with them. But when I travel to a city and my friends are around, I would pay a short visit to their house, or ask them out and have dinner together, and then the rest of time, I can travel anywhere I like alone or with my accompanies. yeah, better stay in hotel, since you pay for the hotel, your pay for their service, then you can do more radamly, because you are consumer. But at your friends' or relatives' home, they of course will not ask you for a dime about, you should think about what should I do to respect them, what should I do to show my gratitiude to them... So it is more relax to stay at hotel though it cost more expensive. [iamfine]
Hi, I love to travel too, but I only stay in comfortable, luxurious hotels. The cheaper ones are nice but doesn't have the service as good as luxurious hotels [Jso1020]
I agree with you and often the staff are not nice as well in a cheaper hotel. because I am Asian I often get this "how would you pay for the room" look when I check in in the cheaper hotel not like when I stay in good hotel they treat you with respect and treat you equal to other guest. [eve301345]
Depends on where I travel. If I travel to a place where I have friends I usually stay with them because you get free accommodation and you catch up with the happenings of your friends. And I also stay with relatives. But usually I travel to places where I don't have friends or relatives and of course stay in hotels or resorts or pension houses. Then if friends and relatives travel to my place and they inform in advance, they can always stay with us and they can do whichever they like. No one will ever bother them in what they are doing as long as they are responsible enough. [sandymay16]
Yeah but you know even in my best friend house I stayed once and even we been friends for long time its really difficult because I feel bad because I can see theme doing things and every time I offer a help they said dont worry about it and I finish up doing nothing and watch theme do something. Its difficult because as a free accommodation provided by theme you want to do something even just little in return. [eve301345]
sir it depends upon the closness with the friend if my friend is very close friend then i would surely stay at his home wheather he invites me or not but if he or she is my genuine friend then i will stay at hotel unless he invites me at his home. but i had 3 to 4 holidays with my other friends and we choose hotels rather then our common firend. happy mylotting. While travelling it is always better to stay in a hotel. Me and my husband prefer a hotel to anything else. There are pople at our service and we feel more free in a hotel than at some acquanitance's house. We have to use their bed, linen,bathroom, have food with them...People travel to unwind themselves, and for me it isnt travel if we are staying put at some one's house. [malpoa]
It depends on the level of closeness i have with friends offering me to stay in their place. If they are the not soooo close friends, i seldom accept their offer, not unless i am on budget. It's good to stay in friends house because conversation and other interesting stuff are present every time. On the other hand, staying in hotel is not bad either. Yes, you can have all the time in the world without worrying other people. You can do what you want with no eyes watching. I can say that i feel comfortable with close friends if i am in their house, because if they are in mine---it's just the same.happy [underdogy]
Hi Eve, I agree with your BF, I don't like to stay with my relative just for accommodation purpose. It is not polite if I did not bring the presents to them. If I buy the presents, it is very headache that which stuff I need to buy and it will distract my concentration on the travelling plesance. And further, it will cost the money to buy the presents. Why not just stay in hotle without being affected by the relationship concern? [sasalove]

Becouse the condition is not good can only live togther with bystander . If I want to save money when I go for travel and a friend or relatives offer me to stay at their house, then I'd rather stay. I can spend my hotel expense to buy something when I got back home. [irefed]

Hey there EVE, I to love traveling, I had been unto it since I was a kid. I had been to many places, but since that small age I always felt a little uncomfortable staying at other people's houses, even though they were quite close friends of my parents. Staying with someone is okay, if there's not too much crowd there, I mean if there ain't too many family members around, cause that way its easier putting up cause its only one or two people you might disturb, and that's all. Now that I have grown up I hate troubling people for my leisure, also if there are others involved along with my friends, I think twice before I go knock at their door. I mean, they have there own darn timetable and way of doing things and I have mine. If it were just my friends, they already know what I am, so not a big problem, but putting up with their family, its like getting to know a whole lot new people and trying not to annoy them in any way. Its a whole lot discomforting, when you have to watch your step all the way. So I always love to stay at hotel, unless I am totally broke, that is. Well any ways, at the hotels you get to do things your way, stay up as late as you want without bothering anyone, and enjoy as much as you want, but at other places you are bound to have limitations. hehe,To be honest, I perfer hotel than friendl,s home. I also feel that you are so free in the hotel and can do whatever you want to do. But how to say,that, I have some qualitfication of the hotel,especially the hygiene matter. So,the hotel which is ok for me really spent some money, but we can live in friends home for free. So sometimes it is also ok for me to live in friend,s home. About travelling, I like nature scenery better than city travelling,I like mountain, great sea,forest,so on...... for mountain travelling, its also very nice for me to bring the tent and the sleep bag by your self. Of course, be careful about the place to base the tent. The safety is the first thing to consider about. Choose a place is wide enough,around the place there should be some people here. Also, avoid the risk of thunder. Tent is a really comfotable and excieting, and economic way when you are travelling. [gohigh00]
Hi Eve.. Staying in hotels makes you comfortable and guaranteed that your needs will be prepared by the hotel staff. It is like in the confinement of your homes with somebody to take care of your needs - food service, laundry service, transportation reservation and bookings, etc. The first thing I always consider about staying in hotel is its accessibility to major thoroughfare and transportation hubs like train stations, airports, shipping ports, bus stations. Also in consideration are public safety offices like police stations, fire departments and hospitals. Second consideration is the hotel's accomodation. I like well-managed, economical and customer-friendly hotels. If im satisfied, then I will be kept on coming back to these hotels. I dont go to very expensive hotels because I always value the amount of money I will be spending for such accomodation. To stay with friends will give them more things to do and prepare to accomodate you. You must enjoy your visits to your friends by spending more quality and lenghty time with them. We are doing the same thing Eve, everytime we visit our relatives, my girlfriend and myself stay in a hotel. I think there is nothing wrong with it. Well, I somehow don't really like staying in hotel while traveling, maybe because of the price which is relatively high. Well, I mention some 'some-how-many star' hotel. I prefer stay at my friend's place, but the real friend of mine. I don't want to make my friend's feeling distracted because I use his place to stay. Hi there eve, I am from India, and in India, it is a practice, to go and stay in a friend or relatives house, when you travel out of the city. It was also a regular practice with me till a few years back, I felt very uncomfortable staying in somebodys house and I started to stay in hotels only. You are quite right when you say that you can do whatever you want when you stay in the hotel and your stay is also much more pleasanthappy. I have the same feeling as you and so I like to stay in hotels rather with my friends or some relatives. More over when I am traveling with my wife I would normally want no one to disturb me which is possible only when you stay in a hotel. [biman_s]

My sister likes to visit friends, and she and her husband choose to stay in a hotel each time for privacy for themselves and the friends they are visiting. It works out better for everyone she says. Sometimes visits with friends can be stressful if you are in the home and underfoot, so I also think it helps if you just get a room, and enjoy your space and let your friends have the pleasure of your company but not the added aggravation. It really depends. We stayed at my sister's house last year for about a week last year it was nice because we had our own rooms and our bathroom to use so it was not awkward. Breakfast time was really the only time it was a little awkward, but it was not too bad and we got used to it. Plus it is my sister so I did not feel uncomfortable. But with mosst people I would not feel comfortable staying for more than one night. One night is not too bad. But if I am staying anywhere longer than that I would prefer to stay at a hotel. I actually enjoy staying in hotels. I don't feel obligated to do anything. [ladym33]
My wife and I love to travel and up until just a few years ago we would take our son with us everywhere. We stay with friends if we are traveling where we have friends. One year we decided we would try camping in Florida to save some money so we could stay longer. We even booked a site ahead of time but when we arrived it was Christmas eve and no one was there to help us get settled so we decided to spend the night in the hotel which was right next to the campground. It turned out the cost of the hotel with a cooking area was less than we were being charged for the camp site so we requested a refund from the campgrounds, which they gave us without complaint. hi eve! i love to travel, be it with my friends or family. depends with who im with. when i'm with some of my friends, we stay in the resort or a house for rent. it's much more practical to stay there coz we can maximize the expenses for the food and tour. especially when we go out of town, we dont just stay in one place. the only time we will stop is when we need to rest and sleep so we can have enough energy for the next day. the thing is, i also have to adjust to the budget with the group, in which way, we will all meet and enjoy. with my family, always at the hotel even when we have relatives living in the area. we only paid visit to them but we dont sleepover coz it will be hard for them to accommodate us all, we're of big numbers, hehe! :) [cherrc]

Actually I used to stay with family. But now we have two dogs and my relatives don't like being around my dogs. So now we stay in hotels, it's much easier doing that and my family members don't have to put up with my dogs all of the time. [doglady112]
Hi Eve, When I go on holiday, staying in a hotel tends to be the first thing on my agenda. Where will I stay? Unless you got a relative then that is sorted. But if not, then it is pretty obvious fot me that I need a hotel and so would look up a hotel that does bed and breakfast most of the times, because then I could have breakfast and go out and enjoy myself until the evening where I would have lunch outside and dinner too then return just to sleep and so on. So I would always 80% of the time consider going in to a hotel before even booking my flight which to me is the no. 1 priority which is finding a suitable hotel. [asem93]

I sort of know where you are coming from on this. I am the sort of person who likes likes my own space, and I do prefer to stay in a hotel where I can be as I want to be. Yeah. I do. Staying in a hotel is a better idea than disturbing others. Nowadays time has changed rapidly and I have seen several times that my relatives are getting trouble due to my sudden visit to their home. Due to my work schedule I have to do that and I am helpless. So, I have no choice. Everytime I travel, whether it is with friends or family, I always try to secure lodging first. I just hate being stuck in a rest area somewhere, sleeping in a car. You definitely want/need comfort when on a trip. If not, you definitely are tense when arriving at your destination. [geminikid]

Hi eve, my husband and I usually would like to stay in a hotel when travelling. We prefer to have free and relaxing vacation. We dislike giving any inconvenience to our friends or relatives. I understand that everyone would have their respective personal affairs to busy with daily. I would feel uneasy to see them spending extra time to entertain us. This will disturb their daily routine for sure sad We like booking accommodation via internet a couple of week before leaving for our destination. We usually would pick hotel which is clean and hygiene. Of course we will try our best to choose the one located in area where shopping center, restaurants, bazaar, etc are available. It's easy for us to hang around there after back from the day exploration in the tourist sites. How nice it is to stay in the desirable hotel. I love traveling. It's easy to travel anyhwere nowadays as long as you have the money with you. I'll stay in a friend's house if he/she offers me to stay there. It will be of big help for my safety and I'll be able to save a lot of my money but the privacy is limited. hi, if I am travelling on my own, I prefer to stay with my friends or relative. However if I have others tagging along, then I will choose the hotels. Again, if it's my mum that is with me, normally we will be going back to her sister's house, then we will put a night in my aunt's house instead of the hotel. But, if we have more than 2 of us, then we prefer the hotel. As you have said, we are more freedom in doing what we want when we stay in the hotel, and if there is any request, we can actually direct request from the hotel. Hi, Eve! Yes, nowadays there are so many low cost carriers that offer quite reasonable prices of air fare. So, everyone can travel. I love to travel and normally, my hubby or family and I will stay in the hotel, which is more comfortable with the hotel services and not much of a hassle when staying with some relatives. However, if the said friends or relatives are very very close to us, then we will think twice whether to stay at the hotel or not because staying with somebody that we know of mean that we can save up more. Free accommodation, but of course we sure do know how to keep that place. There are no room services, but yes, if like I said we are VERY close, we won't feel awkward at all. happy [corrycrystal]
