my favorite vacation spot that doesn't cost a fortune is non existant. I haven't been on vacation in sooo long, I couldn't tell you. I am going to Cuba this summer to meet my in-laws for the first time in 11yrs, but it will end up being very costly by the end of the trip. Things in Cuba are less expensive, but with plane tickets for a family of 4 from Chicago to Miami (no flights to Cuba from here), then plane tickets to Cuba, special visas, passports, airport taxes, car entals, spending money. That's why we haven't ever been yet. It's gonna set us back about $10k by the time all is said and done !! [misheleen73]

Disney. I know what your gonna say it costs so much. We have a timeshare there and after the initial investment is paid off it really is affordable. There is no way we could afford to go if we hadn't joined the vacation club. We are going on a cruise in Jan with Disney. [Rickrocks8]
The best vacation spot for me is Mauritius islands. There are beautiful sea islands.people are so simple and friendly.I like to go Mauritius again and again. [rkbehera1]
Self catering by the sea in England, Scotland or Wales. We managed to rent a cheap self catering place although it was not by the sea last year for a week. It was about £260 for the week I think plus the deposit. The place was ok although I wouldnt recommend going back. I do like the area we stayed in though which was the Lake District. Another cheap option is camping although this is not my favourite holiday. I used to go away in a camping van with my ex husband and stay on sites which didnt cost too much as we did our own food where possible. [organiclady35]
We've gone camping when the kids were younger. But we rented a camper because I didn't want to sleep outside in a sleeping bag. [daycarepal]
Are there any great vacation spots that don't cost a fortune????? I guess I will say South Florida, and the only reason I say this is because it's where my family lives and I don't have to pay for a hotel or rent a car. And, since Florida is a "hot spot" for travel, I guess it fits. But, I don't like Florida and the only reason I ever go is to see my family, so really the "only" reason it's my favorite is for them and because it's cheap....LOL. I have gotten away with not spending a ridiculous amount of money In Vancouver, BC, and it's a great place to visit. I lived only 2 hours away, though, for several years. I guess this is all kind of relative to where someone lives and the reason they're going to that spot, right? LOL...I'm no help. :) [dfn12968]
I use to live in Florida, and it gets very hot there! We still go back once a year to visit my parents. But I don't think I would want to live there again, unless I lived somewhere else during the summer months. [daycarepal]
What's your favorite vacation spot that doesn't cost a fortune? well when I lived in Ohio I loved going to Myrtle Beach, but now my fav spot is the beach on the Marine Corp base where we live, it is 5 miles from my house and I can see it from my front yard so I don;t pay anything [usmcsgtwife]
