Some luxury from time to time doesn't hurt anybody though I don't think that so much is necessary. I stayed only a couple of times. Once during a work trip when my company was trying to convince a client to sign a very important contract and once more during a students' congress where by chance some people got lodged in such a place. It was a funny story because we didn't have money for the trip so we had to hitch hike all the way to finally stay in such a place. I think that going from 4 stars to 5 stars doesn't make a big difference in the service you get but yes in the price and may be the thickness of the carpets. It is more a way to separate people with deeper pockets. Breakfast in those places is by the way excellent.

Hi, yes i stayed in a 5 stars hotel few times, when i was travelling....but i think that is not a big deal, i can say that is difference maybe to price, to 3 and 4 stars i was very good, i mean services was very good too. i will be honest and i will say that even i can stay in 7 STARS HOTEL, i can t sleep. so, i hate to stay in hotels. [icesmile]
I never liked them much too. Once in a while is fine, too often a pain. There is nothing like my own bed. [overwings]
Yes, I did for the business trips. In those days, it was normal for some companies. It was taken as an element to present the premium rank of the company if its employees stay in five or four star hotels. But the rules are getting changed a little bit. The allowance for business trips are reduced in the attempt to reduce expenses. And in most cities, the four or five start hotels have to downgrade the charges so as to attract more customers. [zhuhuifen46]
Really there in no much need of luxury in a business trip. You are away from home so as long as you can have a quiet and good rest and a proper meal, you don't need more. [overwings]
Yes when I was in Mauritius, an island in the indian ocean,I have been to Coralia Hotel, it is a five star hotel, the services are too good and as you said perfectly some luxury from time to time does not hurt at all. [med889]
TO tell the truth ,I do not have stayed in five star hotels.Because the price is too expensivel for me !and inside the high consunmption ,should be 10 dollars a bottle of Coke in Chinese five star hotel! H owever ,i have been into the four star hotel !I hope that one day after rich i can enjoy five star hotels ! [mc1988]
So let's keep on clicking ads. For each 1000 ads we can have a drink in that hotel. LOL [overwings]
I never stayed in 5 stars hotel. My company never send me for a job outside so I never had a chance to taste it (even if they did, I doubt they'll let me stay in one rolleyes) If I need to book one, I don't think I can afford it. I can only afford 4 stars and I already find it so damn expensive, let alone 5 stars. I wonder how will they charge me for room service? Better forget it. I can use the money elsewhere, especially I need to save more money now. [prinzcy]
I have stayed at the Hilton Hotel in Austin Texas, which is 5 star i think, anyways, I got to go to the fabulous hotel, because I was in a math competition called MathCounts, and my team made it to state, and they served breakfast buffets, lunch buffets, and dinner buffets, it was so good. I stay at 5 stars resorts one or two weeks every year. Before my husband died, he bought for us a timeshare in Aruba. I can either use it there or pay a little more to use it somewhere else. The last time we used it together, a little before he passed away, we took one of our kids with her whole family to Disney. And we stayed another week at another resort in Florida. Five stars both with jacuzzi for two in the main bathroom and all the trimmings. The minute we arrived, my grandsons ran up to fill it and take off their clotheslol. Now that I´m a widow, I apreciate a place where I feel safe and have a kirchen to do my own cooking. I use the place but go frugal in eating so I don´t spend much more than what I do at home. The trip is paid by my online earnings (not on my actual budget). My pockets are not deepw00t, but I manage. Have a nice day [marguicha]
Time sharing is a cheaper way to enjoy some luxury from time to time. May be one day I will think about it. [overwings]
Honestly, I've never been stayed in a 5 star hotel. I can't afford the expenses and no opportunity yet. I wish I could even stay there for one night only.lols. [rosemarierealino]
Yes, I have stayed in a vouple of them all due to work. I had a nice suite in New Orleans for a symposium we hosted and I loved it. The furnishings were all antiques and unique to the era of the original building of the hotel. It was all done in a way that was very classy. Then several years later we did another symposium in Baton Rouge and I got the Presidential Suite since I was the organizer of the symposium. The bathroom was as big as my living room at home and the garden tub was huge...bigger than my bathroom at home. All very nice and a good experience, especially when complimentary! [kareng]
They are awesome. They are only for special occasions. I would not like them that often. They are a destination within themselves, and usually when I am traveling I am more interesting in what the rest of the place has to offer. Try one in your hometown for a special occasion. You can learn that a whole other world exists. [slimandsexy]
yea..i have been to one at mumbai....at Taj....4 5 days....awesome [vkakochu]
Hi overwings...Yes, I have stayed in 5 star hotels, but do you know what? I think I would prefer something a little less where I am not afraid to put my feet up. Where the staff is freindly and the bedding comfortable. A nice view would be helpful too and a clean room. Thats all I really would like when I go away to a hotel. Maybe an eat in restaurant that is again comfortable and not over the top in looks or price. [sandymay48]
hi overwings. i never stayed in a 5 star hotel, just 3 stars. but i have been in the construction of some 5 stars hotels in madeira, and 2 6 stars in algarve. [jonasman]
Honestly, I have not, and I think it's a little luxury for me to stay at there for personal issues. Do you think so? And the main reason is I am poor. Haha! So I nees work hard and then earn a lot of money. Have a good time! Overwings. It's a good topic! [pengbubu]
Good times will come one day. Let's keep on posting LOL! [overwings]
I have visited five star hostel, but I have not stayed in any luxury hotel. I have eaten food from luxury hotel during the marriage of one of my family friend. Wow there were lots of different and costly foods that I have never seen before. I think most of the costly hotels are very luxuries and most of the rich people spend time in these kind of hotels and pays very huge bills. [ajithlal]
hi overwings! i haven't stayed overnight in a 5-star hotel but i have been in one for a whole day when our office organized a national symposium 3 years ago. the hotel was really beautiful and the food was great! the best thing i experienced there was the dessert. ^^ not only there were so many desserts to choose from, but they were truly delicious! the activity was tiring and stressful but the stress went all away because of the desserts. LOL if we were allowed to take home some, i would have took home some. LOL i've also stayed in four-star hotels for overnight or a few days and its really great. the airconditioned rooms are the best because they have all the things you need. well, for me, if the food is great, if the room is nice, with airconditioner and it has a tv, a good bed and a clean toilet, i'd be already satisfied with that. ^^ [secretbear]
One of my closest friends got married and she worked for a tour operator. For her hen night she paid for me and another friend to stay with her in a five star hotel. We had been to a Greek restaurant and seen plate smashing. Then we got a taxi to the five star hotel that was in London. I had a superb location near Tower Bridge. The taxi driver was surprised that we could afford to stay at the fancy hotel. The outside was ornate and the inside was pure luxury. [maximax8]
I had the best 5 star for my wedding night in St.Petersburg. The place had little to envy to the summer palaces around the city. Columns were of real marble. It will take many years before I stay again in such a place. [overwings]
I have been lucky enough to stay in a five star hotel a couple of times. I have personally saved up enough money to be able to afford it and therefore treat myself with a little luxury. I think depending on where you stay, there is a difference between 4 and 5 stars. I actually think the service is heaps better, but then ofcourse it depends on the actual hotel. I know what you mean about breakfast though, I love to indulge during breakfast times during hotel stays. [UK_Shree]
Yes I have stayed in a five star hotel fab food and excellent facilties I love it mgraham126 [mgraham126]
Well 5 star hotels indeed are simply amazing. But when I travel I prefer to choose a hotel which is 3 star. When I travel I like to go out of the hotel and search the country so why should I stay in a 5 star hotel if I am not going to stay in the hotel? I stay at the hotel only to eat breakfast and to sleep. The most important thing is for the hotel to be clean. In the hotels, which I have been to I had never had any reason to complain. [omiami]
If you only need the place to sleep, any quiet a clean place with a comfortable bed is enough. [overwings]
I have never stayed in a 5 star hotel. I would like to someday but I can't afford it. the highest rated hotel I have stayed in is a 3 star hotel. [scififan43]
I honestly don't remember if the places I have stayed at were 5 stars. I just remember that I always made sure they didn't have bad reports with the Better Business Bureau. [libby2009]
Yes, I have in the past but it has been many years since I have. I used to would go on business trips with my husband and his company would have us stay in a 5 star hotel. [sharlahodges]
I have stayed in Sheraton for 2 days and i can say that those 2 days are good then my 20 yrs of life coz its a heaven on earth, if you can afford it. [rockydam83]
I have only ever stayed in a 5 star hotel once for one night. It was on our honeymoon and my mother had given us a voucher for one night she had and wasn't going to use. It was fantastic and so luxurious! I would love to do it again one day...the spa & the luxury is amazing! [toosh21]
I had stay in a five star hotel when my older cousins got married. We stayed there two days and the management is very accomodating, the foods are great and the place have a great ambiance. We tried the swimming pool and we enjoy sightseeing because there are many foreigners stayed in. It is one great experience I had in my life. [grecychunny26]
I have many times, It is fun and it is prettier than normal hotels. The perks are great too. My boyfriend valets for a seven star hotel and I have seen the inside of the rooms and the presidential suite and it is incredible. You have no idea the it looks a lot like the movies. Plus the view is beautiful. He can get any room with a forty percent discount there. They have two five star restaurants, spa, salon, and message treatments, a movie theater, a cafe and other really cool things just in the hotel. [csrobins]
I never think of luxury when it comes to hotels. For me it is a question of economy, comfort and cleanliness. I am usually in a hotel from convenience more than anything. [Canellita]
This is a coincident that I see this discussion as I have returned staying in a five star hotel spending one week of my daughter's annual school holidays.Well it is quite expensive but it is worth the money we spent. The food and drinks were excellent. The pool was a paradise. We were treated like a royal family.Well we got to indulge at least once in a year .Aren't we?happy [balasri]
I have never had an opportunity to stay in a five star hotel but a three star is quite nice to me. I don't care much for all the extracagance, just give me a reasonable price, clean accomadations and free breakfast, I am a happy camper. I can't say that I would mind giving a chance should the opportunity ever arise. I am certainly not adverse to a little luxury every now and again! happy God Bless! [change1life]
I don't think so, though I may have when I was growing up. My mom liked taking my sister and I on trips when we were little and we stayed at a couple of fancy hotels before, though I don't know if they were 5 star. I was able to look one of them up online and found out it its a 4 star. Not sure about the other. My husband on the other hand stayed at one after his father passed away. It wasn't his intention to stay at such a ritzy hotel, but as he wanted to be at the same hotel as his sister and her family he didn't have a choice as she refuses to stay at anything less than a 5 star hotel. Fortunately she was able to get a discount for my husband, through her husband's work, I believe. And it's a good thing we had the money from the stimulus check, otherwise he wouldn't have been able to have make the trip at all. surrender [sacmom]
I have not stayed in a five star hotel but i plan to visit the five star hotel.I once worked in the five star hotel and it was very good. There were lifts with mirrors. There were also carpets on the floor. They was also good and comfortable beds. The food over there also smelt very nice. There were lot of passages in the hotel and it was difficult to find a way in and out.confusedconfused [vicky30]
Personally it totatlly can depend on the location as some cities a 5* hotel can be very different to one in a different country - I have stayed in a fair few because of my line of employment (travel industry) and most of them have been exceptionally good - if I had the money to pay for them myselfs I would definitely treat myself occasionally! Also I have found that the difference can be huge between a 4 and 5* hotel and sometimes the little differences can make my stay that so much more enjoyable but, of course it completely depends on the type of little extras that make a difference to me could mean nothing to you and therefore you wouldn't appreciate th same things I might! x [frankiecesca]
Hi overwings!Yes, I have stayed in several 5-star hotels already. I travel a lot and in some of those instances, I got the opportunity to stay in 5-star hotels. It was not my choice to stay in one. It just so happened that in these instances, I was able to stay in 5-star hotels for free. Who wouldn't want that? I think there were about 2 or 3 times I had to pay for my stay. All the rest were either part of a package or given to me for free. [dolce_vita78]
