Have You Ever Stayed In A Hotel In Your Hometown Where You Have Your Own House

My friend is going for renovation and he decided to stayput in a hotel for a few days. That would save him from a lot of hazards, he said. That made me wonder, how is it to be like staying in a hotel in your hometown where you are having a house! Have you ever done that? If yes, what made you do so?

I have done this when we had a huge winter storm and we were left without Electricity. It was much more cozy to go to the nice warm hotel room then to stay in my freezing cold house! [marcialoyd]
Indeed it is! That must have been very tough for you people during those times! [mimpi1911]

I did this several times in the past Mimpi either because of a move or because I wanted more excitement in my romance. hehehehh LOLhappycrywub [OceanTiara]
lolThank you I did Mimps Dear! [OceanTiara]

Rennovating a house if it needed major work can be a hazardous exercise especially to thoe people who have frail health . So I guess its best to stay away from the house or atleast avoid spending most of the time there till the work is done. I'm sure it will be quite an awkward feeling at first for people like me who have never done it before ,but i'm sure he will get used to it. Actually it's not a bad idea for a change. A break away from one's regular household chores, walk in and walk out when you feel like. May do a lot of good to some. happy [alokn99]
Now you lure me...those are irresistible.....and you want me to devour those and get more healthy?? [mimpi1911]

Yes, Mimpi, I have done this before. One time in the cold winter the heater in our home stopped working on the weekend and it would have cost more to pay the extra charges for emergency repair than it cost to rent a very nice room at a resort hotel very near our home. So we saved money by paying for a lovely room with a wonderful view and a nice lunch, too. We stayed two days and then called the repairman on the third day when regular rates were in effect again. The other time I won a one-night stay at a nice hotel as a door prize at a business meeting and although that resort hotel was practically in our back yard, hubby and I did go and stay and we had a nice time and a lovely meal, too. [drannhh]
Wow, lucky you! I get that you live in a lovely place with lot of tourist spots around. And coming to emergency stayput , it makes much sense. [mimpi1911]

Yeah I have stayed in a beach side hotel for a week end in Chennai. The Temple bay.Wonderful experience. [balasri]
Wow!! It sounds so beautiful! [mimpi1911]

Once, when I was visiting Trivandrum (before marriage), I had to stay at a hotel for a day because our house was locked (and not cleaned out). The next day my parents came too and we got it cleaned and moved in the day after that. When we visited my parents in Africa, we were there for a month and a half. When we returned, we couldn't go straight home without it being cleaned (our son was too little and allergic to dust...so am I). So, we stayed 2 days at a hotel in Bangalore and then went home. [SViswan]
That makes much sense, SV. It's impossible to start living in a house after so many days. It has to be cleaned, specially if kids are around. Thanks. [mimpi1911]

During a weeklong of stay-in seminar. Of course I stay there because it's not usual and for a difference and it's free of charge because the government paid for us. [eds282006]
Yeah, while in college many on my friends used to do that when they got some complimentary offer. [mimpi1911]

I have done this several times. One place was more of a resort with a few rooms and it was actually just 10 minutes away from our house and I stayed there twice. My dad got a complimentary one-night stay at that place and the spoiled girl that I was, he passed it on to me. The other time for that same place was during a birthday party for my sister held at that place. We just spent the night there. When I had my debut, we also stayed in a hotel room overnight. That hotel was about a 5 minute drive from our house. We could have just walked it but I had my friends and we stayed up that whole night. The room was just a resting place. Heheh. [SaintAnne]
That sounds fun! You dad is a sweet heart. I am sure you get to see him soon. I haven't really had the opportunity to stay in a hotel in my city. That would be quite fun, I guess. happy [mimpi1911]

Hi Dear Hope u must be doing well, Well ur friend has valid reason to do so, but it seems he is single person. Or he is staying in Hotel with family Well i have not stayed in hotel in my hometown as never had such major thing to do with house. and even we need to do it we can manage it without staying at hotel in hometown Take care [cupid74]
oh u think i am Lucky thankssssss [cupid74]

I have not had the need to ever stay in a hotel here. And I hope the need does not arise ever. [mayka123]

Hello mimmpi. I have lived in a big hotel in my hometown for only one time. That was more than a decade ago when we teachers were organized to have a meeting in the hotel, but not ever since then. I prefer to live at home than in a hotel unless I have to, like going on business or travelling. Good day and take care, my dear friend. [williamjisir]

I once stayed a couple of nights in a Hotel/Motel that was less than 2 kilometres from my house actually. It was when I first had the home built and there were some things that needed to be done after I had been living there for a month or so. There needed to be workmen everywhere for a couple of days so I ended up staying alone in a Motel room while they finished off what had to be done. It felt quite strange actually. Because I still went to the same local places and work over these two days but had to drive past my estate to the Motel each night. lol. [James72]
Yes, it must have felt strange. But, that's makes sense to put up in a hotel when work is being going o and its a mess inside. Specially if you cannot take leave. [mimpi1911]

No;so far I have not done something like this . [ptrikha_2]

Yes, I have.. I did so, last year. I stayed in a hotel for about a month. It was only because we was in the process of moving, and the house that was moving to, needed cleaning up. Plus, someone stole the appliances that was in the house. That was taking so long to replace them. Plus, we had needed a new hat water heater. There was none in the house.. Talk about hectic! So, we had to stay in a motel for a month or so. I kind of hated it because the room service kept on taunting us about when we should pay them.. I was glad when we left.happyhappy [cream97]
That makes much sense, Cream. It must have very difficult to stay in your house like that. Cleaning is heck of a problem and without the heater in winter in your place it must be darn difficult. happy [mimpi1911]

yes i had to. we were going by flight to a different city. the flight got cancelled. that time airlines used to provide Hotel accommodation if flights were cancelled. we stayed back at The Park and flew next morning [subha12]
I just remembered my aunt had a similar incident a few years back. They were stayput in the Park. May be the same airlines you are talking of. happy [mimpi1911]

No, it has not happened with me that I had to stay in a hotal in my hometown. Though, this idea did come in mind that me and my better half should spend a day on a weekend in a hotel in our own city to see how it feels to be in hotel in your own city. Then on the second thought, I discarded the idea - thinking that we may not repent after spending our hard earned money after a stay and meals in a hotel. Still, I wish to implement the idea one day. [dpk262006]
Oh! Sure! I'll keep you informed about it (prior and after my stay)happy [dpk262006]

NO..hehehe i wish to try..hahaha i really want to try doing this and experience what it's like living in a different house.. but i think it's a waste of money..hehehe i dont want to pay for rent..hehehe but who knows, maybe soon, i'll have a reason to do this.. but for now, guess i'll just stay home.. i love it at home with the delicious foods cooked by my dad..and the comfort of our home is still incomparable!:) [austere]
that's definitely right.. there's no place like home and i believe in it..:) [austere]

We did this a few years back. We had gone on vacation, but the air conditioning went out the day we were getting ready to leave. We still went on vacation, cutting it a few days short so that we could call someone to get the problem fixed. It was over 100 degrees outside, so staying in the house was next to impossible after having been closed up for 3 days. We stayed at a hotel for another 3 days, then came home when the air conditioner was replaced. [thebohemianheart]

Hi mimpi, yesssss there is nothing more fun than staying in a hotel room, whether you need to be there or not. I had a boyfriend for many years that still lived with his parents, so every weekend he would rent a hotel room at The Red Roof Inn, fully-stock the sink and bathtub with ice and beer...then pick me up and we'd head on over there just like we were on vacation or something. Of course I told my parents I was going to a movie and then out to eat...but really we'd be in that room watching TV and drinking beer all night. It was a lot of fun. The hotel room also came in handy because I would make this guy rescue cats for me from the shelter, but my parents wouldn't let me bring them home because we already had too many animals. So I'd make my ex live in the hotel room with the cat until I could convince my parents to let me bring the cat home with me. I did that a couple times already...that's why we have so many cats...ha ha [Druscilla34]
That's so much fun! Change in place adds spice to love life and what you have described just make it so much fun! You have tempted me enough, Druscilla! And Boris and Bogie are most adorable. No wonder you have so many of them! Lucky you! happy [mimpi1911]
