Have you heard about this wonder, that people build from ICE and SNOW on the same place in Sweden each year?? It could be one of the WORDL's 7wonders, but this building stays only for 3 monthes in each year. Then it thaws under the sun. The temeperature is minus5 Celsius degree continously. The rooms are wonderful, all different from the others. Many special icestatues decorate the hotel and the rooms. THe bed, the chairs are from ice. Even the glass they drink is from ice.
It is a real wonder!

responses and comments:
I have seen this on the travel channel and it looks really neat. That would be something I would like to see in person. [jmcafam]
Thank you! I saw that I received many good comments. I rate them!!! I am glad that so many people feel the same like me. It is like a fairy tale, isn't it. And all our soul has a piece which stayed in the childhood. All the comments prove it. Thank you! [Dolcerina]
Yes i have been there once it was a beautyfull expereince just like a dream next time i will go with someone who come in my life......for honeyMoon [deepestblue]
Thank you you are rated. [Dolcerina]
What I want to know is how do you stay warm inside? And I can't imagine sleeping on a bed of ice. I think it would be pretty to see but not practical as a motel. [janet069]
just like me. I do not like the cold. I get frozen when the winter begins and thaw out only when the temperature goes to 15Celsius. [Dolcerina]
this makes it a wonder . is there any wonder in this world made by man that disappears in few days and appears in same place later. [pinkspark]
Yes it is a real wonder. Thank you. [Dolcerina]
Oh that is so beautiful. I knew there was one in Canada but I didn't know about this one. I'm like you though, it would be too cold for me to stay there but is sure is beautiful to look at. [lucy02]
Yes I wonder it, only to visit, not to stay [Dolcerina]
We also have a similar hotel in Romania, at Balea Lake... or the intention to build it :) Last year it was up and running during winter time. [september_1st]
Wow! thats great man. Wish you all the best in your venture. [divir_vij]
An ice hotel is a temporary hotel made up entirely of snow and sculpted blocks os ice and therefore and example of novelty architecture. They are built each year in the coldest regions of the world as away to attract vacationers to remote areas. they are promoted by their sponsors and have special features for travelers who are interested in novelties and unusual environments, thus are in the class of destination hotels. their lobbies are often filled with ice sculptures, and food and beverages are specially chosen for circumstances. [gtfteam]
Yes, I've heard of it and I'd love to visit it some time. I'd say it would be an amazing experience. I wonder is it suitable for children. [BittyBiddy]
i live in south,do not have these exprience, but i think that someday i can try it ,to feel it [ricardfly]
Thank you for the comment. I rate the coments well. [Dolcerina]
I've seen it on television as well and it looks beautiful! I'd like to visit but I couldn't stay there, I am tooo cold natured for that! I'd freeze! Brrrrrrrrr! [redamazon]
Buildings and structures made from ice and snow? Must be a spectacular site. I would like to go to Sweden to see it. [ernst111]
You may also sleep on the icebed! [Dolcerina]
Yap my friend!!! I heard about it,its seem very cool and nice and too good.I see this on one channel its too good art!!!Its prove the Humman greatest art of the world coz its the best of all art!!!!(^_^)I Love tht Art!!!!! [nomi_prince4u]
Yesbit is the ART [Dolcerina]
yes i have seen it on tv . i saw how rhey build it and i saw how they enjoy it. it would be a real nice place to take your favorite "ice queen"...lol... so i guess you would like to go there sometime? don't forget to dress for it. [farmboss1]
Yes I would like to visit. But i do not like the cold. I think I wouldn't spend any nights there. I would only admire it. [Dolcerina]
I think it would be awesome to visit! Something truely quite different. I went to the icebar in stockholm earlier this year - which is as it sounds a bar made of ice - the bar itself, the seats and even the glasses! It was quite cool (no pun intended!)! [Rachcaa]
I have never been there - but it is somewhere that I plan to visit very soon. I love Sweden - it is a beautiful place to visit, and I have seen many pictures of the Ice Hotel and it is truly beautiful. I hate hot weather and don't feel comfortable in any temperatures above 23 C (sorry for non-Europeans here but I don't think too well in farenheit - I think 23 C is about 70 F), so it is ideal for me. [rosie_123]
would like to go to Atalantis Paradise Island in the bahamas. A huge waterthemed hotel island featured on television and in movies...bcoz i don't no about it. [babyguda]
yup..........i ve seen all the info about it on tv.......but it only stays for a limited time..plus everything from spoon to fork is of ice ..but still wonderin???how do u serve some hot stuff there?? [exhibit]
well..it's not the only one. u can find in this time of year an ice hotel at "balea lake" romania [xosmin]
that is only a little similar one, that hotel is not soo special [Dolcerina]
Yeah I saw this in a news article the other day. I'd love to visit it, it'd be amazing. In the article they had a picture of the ice hotel's bedroom (but it was too cold to sleep in!). Amazing that people create it each year though - I particularly liked the ice chandeliers... [luckyman70]
I was in Saint Petersburg Russia last winter and they were building a ice house in the town squareit was really kewl everything was sheets of ice and the just put some water in between the blocks to attach them it went up pretty fast. I don't know about staying in a ice hotel they must have had huge feather beds with fur covers...... [sailoffwithme]
Yes, only fur on the icebed [Dolcerina]
I think it looks like a wonderful place, but I like cold weather. I guess it wouldn't work here in Texas. ;-) [Ekacker]
I have heard of this hotel, and it sounds so beautiful! I love the picture that you posted, as well. I would love to visit such a place just to see the wonder and the beauty that it holds within it. It's amazing that they can only keep the building for three months in a year, too, but the fact that such a building can exist at all is within itself a small miracle. I love that even the glasses they drink from are made of ice. But how would one get to sleep on a bed of ice, lol? That would be sooo cold! *laugh* [shywolf]
Probably they like the cold. ANd their blood is warmer, than mine :) They must dress very well!! [Dolcerina]
really? my boyfriend is from sweden but he hasn't told me about it yet. he told me about places we will visit together. but i think he forgot to mention about the ice hotel. i will ask him about it later. it seems to be a cool place to go! [maryannemax]
hahahaha He wanted to surprise you with it, probably :) [Dolcerina]
It is quite lovely, isn't it? Kind of like those sandcastles people put so much effort into. All that work and it is just temporary. It takes a special mindset I suppose to be motivated to do that kind of thing. [Bevsue]
This must really be exciting and wonderful. I have some relatives there and I hope they will be able to visit the place. It's surprising that people are able to build such a structure in a short span of time. Thanks a lot for the information. [erminiasanjose]
Your welcome! [Dolcerina]
id love to go visit this place one year, maybe ill get to go! Im sure that you wouldnt need ice IN your drink! It sounds like you have been there? When did you go? How long did you stay for? Does everyone wear their snow clothes? [kyliepops]
Snow clothes? I have never heard about it... I still have not been there yet :( [Dolcerina]
Yes I have read that somewhere and I think that's the COOLEST idea I've ever heard. I very much love to go there given the chance and opportunity and have that COLDEST experience of my life. Just imagine everything in ice furnishings, furniture etc. etc. It's a real wonder. But the problem is, considering the distance from where I am I need lots of COLD cash too to be able to go there. [manong05]
I'd love to visit this place. Some time before the winters get too warm! [onesiobhan]
i havent visited the place personally but i remember watching it on the travel channel n my god that place looked amazing...it was almost like a structure from a fairytale that came to life with a special spell....im actually trying to go there once i become 21...hopefully it wont melt by then..:p!!! [rash219]
Cool. I want to go to this hotel. [brazilian]
someone brought up a good point, why would anyone want to stay there at about 20-22 degrees Fahrenheit and unable to have heat because it would melt the hotel. Doesn't make a lot of sense to me. [Metallion]
Because it is so special!! If they are very cold they may go to a wooden building close to this fairy palace :) [Dolcerina]
i've seen it in a kids show. it's just gorgeous and breath taking. if i had the money i would deff be there. they even let you make an ice scupture to take with you. would you believe every year they change it up, cause it's starts melting so then they're off changing things around. great honeymoon escape for sure. [Lisa_81]
It is a real wonder!Lets place which the person yearned for,has the opportunity I also to be able to attempt. [pangpang_521]
i am really amzed by this. i just found out some info on this on google and its really a marvel i must say. for the people who have visited can u let me know foll things 1. how do u sleep on the beds of ice. 2. at -15 deg dont u freeze 3. and how about the warmth ...or bathrooms etc how do they manage all this..are u supposed to wear something special ...etc..?? [rakrodnahc]
1. there are fur 2-3. there is a wooden house close to it, if you are alredy frozen :) [Dolcerina]
Ice hotels are cool! No pun intended ;) There is one of them in Quebec, Canada, as well. You can have a wedding there, if you like, or all sorts of other events. Here's a link to their website if anyone would like to see photos.... http://www.icehotel-canada.com/en/index.en.php [thinkingoutloud]
well ice is a bad conductor of heat as in....when you entrap air in an igloo....due to body heat the igloo warms up...and the ice on the inside forms a thin layer of water.....together the water and ice layer maintain the heat inside...hence it can get qiute comfortable in the igloo....a similar principal can be applied here. [powerhub500]

WOw sounds great!..How to get there?? I wish I can go there one day in future, maybe after I become a millionaire? It sounds too great and fascinating! [winter_man]
i had see that in discovery ,it's like miracle because it's of ice only nothing else even bed and glasses of wine and all. i think it should be experinced once. [theredlion_17]
i have heard of this place and seen pictures before. i have never been but it would be something amazing to someday be able to visit it....although i am not too fond of col dweather! [ModelMom]
On summer there's no HOTEL ? Hah, I'm kidding, it must be cool ! Good bye, crazyrk. [crazyrk]
ya i've heard about that... and it is wonderful :) [sahergul]
yes i have heard about this but never visited the place. I wish i could see it one day. [divir_vij]
This would be the most beautiful experience of my lifetime..ohh how i would love to see this! Although the fact that i hate the cold and it looks like my bum would stick to the chairs, and my mouth get frozen on the glass..lol like that Christmas movie where the kid puts his tongue on the flag pole? OMG! ahahahah!! that would suck on so many levels! lol..but all that aside..I just want to see it..soo very beautiful! [cloud_kicker_32]
hey but how do they manage to drink water from a glass made of ice.that means they have to drink cold water in winter [gargisback]
hey - really tempting i wud like to go for my honeymoon sometime but really looks good and a new experiment for a hotel.i wud like to get more info on this if u have a suggested link or info do mail me and how was ur experience with this hotel and how much it costs. [superbaaz]

You can check my profil, if you want. [Dolcerina]
Yes i have been there once it was a beautyfull expereince just like a dream next time i will go with someone who come in my life......for honeyMoon [kpsk24]
Wish i could be there...romantic as it is...quite strange however [saket_agarwal]
oooohhh! it sounds fantastic! i would love to see that!! maybe i'll ask my husband to bring me and our girls there! hehehe [bigmommy]
It is really interesting. All the philippinos say the similar in their comment. :) [Dolcerina]
I haven't really seen that one infront of mine eyes but i have seen that hotel in t.v programme in national geographic channel...Ya it seems like the 7th wonder of world's.Because it tooks lots of courage to make and it seems like the houses of heaven as mine grand mama used to told stories in which houses like that one she uses toexplain ...But to called it world's 7th wonder it should be exist for long peroid of time in front of world to called it 7th wonder but it last only for untill winter season....But inmine point of view it is 7th wonder of world. [ktmpok]
we've had them for at least 75 years in our country... we call them iglo's up in the north west territories... they also have them over by montreal in quebec, canada... [NewHeart]
No. It is a palace not an iglo! I know that there's ice hotel in canada too, but I am European. [Dolcerina]
thats really cool.. i've seen it in the movie(die another day) [sesha1240]
ohh.. its trully??? i think i go to there.. sometimes [telulas]
I had seen a special show on Discovery Channel about this ice hotel. And i think it is absolutely wast of time and money in doing this. Why not put that money for some charity work. [valmiki]
it is charity for the soul [Dolcerina]
it's seem a very good idea cold but nice have a good day [alonaz]
yes..i watched it from Ripley believe it or not-tv show. The hotel is really cool..i wish i could visit that place someday and try drinking from an ice-cube..lol.If not mistaken, they even have a small chapel in the hotel. Some newly wed styed there for honey-moon. [Zhanec]
My friend from Canada has a job there for 3 months of the year. He works in the 'Service' dept, serving drinks. He has sent me photos of this wonder and looking at them, I am really tempted to go there at least once in this lifetime! He tells me that even simple food, if eaten hot in this environment, tastes heavenly in this 'hotel'. By the way, he works in ordinary clothes, as he has got used to the temp there! ( That's what he says ). [indianpedi]
i'm turning green with envy! it would be interesting to know, too, what are the dos and don'ts if you're staying at the hotel? what's allowed and what's not? is eating in candlelight a definite no-no? [toonatoons]
I,ve seen pics and stuff about Ice Hotels. I,d like to see one, but my mom, Nooooo way! She,d be tooo cold to even stay. She told me that one day I asked her about it. I,d wonder how to even keep warm, myself, really. But, it,d be nice to go to one. [jmintuck]
i've only read about it in the magazine. have you actually gone there? lucky you! it must be truly beautiful. even just reading the article about it already makes me drool. it must be pretty cold there, though, don't you think? [toonatoons]
thanks 4 sharing, i have never been there but if i got a chance then surely i will go there [diptesh14]
I am glad you posted this! I was trying to remember where this hotel was in the post about ice castles. This place is on my list of places to visit before I die!!! [Melizzy]
I Like your comment. Thank you. [Dolcerina]
i think this is another great human achievment...but i do have a question..How do you spleep ..obviously you cand heat the rooms cause it will melt ? [shtiftseller]
Wow that's great. I never knew about it. It seems very interesting to me. It sounds great. It should be the wonder of the world. Wow, I would love to go ther eatleast once. [soumodeep]
I saw a documentary about how it's built. Apparently it's different every year. I believe they had an ice chapel last year where people could get married. The program was fascinating to see how and where they get the ice from and how the hotel is made so stable. The art work inside was absolutely amazing. They even run fibre optic wires through the ice sculptures I have never seen anything like it and would love to see it for real. Has anyone ever been and stayed there? [lillie1771]
I think I sawthe same documentary like you. I readall the comments, and yes here are a few visitors also :) [Dolcerina]
I've only seen it on tv and the internet before. I would love to see it in real life though cause I think it would be so neat. [sweetgirl_k1]
:-) Yes, I have heard about the Ice Hotel, but I have never been there. I have been to the Ice bar in Central Stockholm though, and its really cool although its a bit cold! Its owned by the same people that owns the Ice Hotel and a lot of things are simular, its located inside a hotel called the Nordic Light Hotel, and is kept cold by a special machine. (Have no idea what it is called) It truly was an experience! [feliciamimmi22]
Eventhough i ve not seen it for myself , long back i remember getting a mail forward about this. I was so amused to see it, but was sceptical whether it was a hoax....I would love to visit one... [shinuak]
Well it sounds very interesting would love to go there some day perhaps for a second honey moon. But I guess it must be very bitterly cold in there. [liciagomes]
yes i have gone to it and here are some of the interesting brife detail of it--This is Travel For a relaxing winter weekend break with a difference why not shelter under the ice and snow? Sweden and Finland, where winter is a serious business, have upmarket snow-sleepover experiences in the form of ice buildings. The first to pioneer this experience was the Ice Hotel in Jukkasjärvi, northern Lapland, 125 miles above the Arctic Circle in Sweden - and it is still the ultimate place to chill. Carved each year in November from thousands of tons of ice and snow, the hotel boasts double rooms, suites, a lobby, pillar hall, film auditorium, church and the stunning Absolut vodka bar, where drinks come in ice glasses. All of which are left to melt away again into the nearby River Torne at the beginning of May. Temperatures in the Ice Hotel range between -4°and -9°C and warm clothes are necessary both inside and outside the Ice Hotel (guests are given thermal overalls, boots, hats and gloves for the duration of their stay). At night, guests sleep snugly in thermal sleeping bags on ice and snow beds covered by reindeer skins. The hotel also has a variety of snowy facilities on offer, including ice water swimming, snowmobiling, arctic driving, kick-sledding (an action similar to using a child's scooter) and dog-sledding. The hotel is suitable for couples, friends and families, but if it is all a little chilly for younger or older members then there are 30 modern cabins next door, with up to four bedrooms, plus their own kitchenettes and bathrooms. A double room for the 2001/2002 winter season costs £130 (1960 SEK) per night. The price includes a cup of hot lingoberry juice by your bedside in the morning, breakfast buffet and morning sauna. Alternatively, travel farther afield to Finnish Lapland and visit the SnowCastle, one hour's flight from Helsinki in Kemi (total journey time, around 3 hours 50 minutes). The castle and hotel, which is open between 15th February and 14th April in 2002, is even more fantastical, with a drawbridge, ice labyrinth and carved fairytale characters in the grand courtyard. [gagandeepxi]
You can even get married there and spent your Weddingnigt on a bed of ice, its kind of cool inst it? but you will be sleeping om fur from raimdeers. [berta67]
I know something about it but I have never been there. I think it is absolutely wonderful. Can be a extraordinary experience spend few days there. If I remember well they have to build totally new every year! Fantastic! [lucalucky]
Thanks for your suggestion. I just heard from you. I have nerver been there. [phon4u]
I've also never had the opportunity to get to go in there, but I've seen things about it many times on television. Of course, much of this scenery is a bit of "made up" because there must clearly be some warming source inside the place, otherwise I don't think people would want to stay inside for too long. Anyway, it is a place that I'd definetly visit in the future if given the chance. By the way, in which town is this located, would you happen to know? [Eisenherz]
Thanks for the comment. I have not been there yet neither, but you can search for it on the web. [Dolcerina]
I am from Sweden but I have never visited the ice hotel. There is however a bar in Stockholm called the ice-bar. The room that the bar is in is covered by ice, the floor, walls, roof, just everything. The ice was transported from the same area they build the ice hotel. O yes, even the glasses you dring from are made of ice. TV here in Australia have showed from the ice hotel a few times. [fregus75]
WOW! I am so glad! A real swedish who knows more than me. YOu can be really proud on it! COOOL! [Dolcerina]
Yes, I've heard of this hotel .. the idea left me cold! ROFLOL! at least if you wanted a cold drink, you could easily find the ice. But, sleeping on blocks of ice .. no thanks! [danjenkins]
I feel the same. Thanks. [Dolcerina]
yes i have heard and i want to visit asap! [desiret]
it is thrilling . i will enjoy it. [lsen06]
cool i would like to go with you [healthguy]
why just with me? [Dolcerina]
i just knew it now when you postedthis discussion. i think its something that we should be visiting one day and experience a whole new experience in hotel. [angel_jean]
Yes, I would like to visit too. [Dolcerina]
Yup aint that cool? I have still to visit it though, but I've heard it's really expensive. [Lunerian]
Probably it is expensive for me too. [Dolcerina]
I heard of those beauties however cannot really imagine what it feels like being there, in real life. It's sad what they are destined to happen to,though- wouldn't watch them melting :-( [Levente]
Thank you Levente. [Dolcerina]
There are even people that have their wedding there, and do all the stuff that you are supposed to do on your wedding night...;-) So I guess that it is not that hard too keep warm. They also have saunas (!) in the ice and that is a little bit weird but it works! When I was there, they had a Ice bar with Absolut Vodka theme, a golf driving ranch (inside), a cinema and lots of other fun stuff. You really have to admire that people working there, they put all their energy into building this fantastic place, even though they know that it will disappear in a couple of weeks. Respect. There is also an Icebar in the city of Stockholm - ABSOLUT ICEBAR STOCKHOLM, where they have a bar made of ice, glasses made of ice etc. They have also exported the concept to Milan, London, Tokyo and Copenhagen. Interesting business idea to sell all over the world.. But it works! [Fuglesang]
Thank you! You are the second swedish who posted to this discussion, and I really appreciate it. I do not know how Milano, or London and the others can do similar.. [Dolcerina]
i have seen on tv it's a fantastic atmosphere but i think it's not easy to sleep there... [pizzoli]
Yes, especially for me, because I can't stand the coldness. [Dolcerina]
i cant imagine how you stay warm in there, maybe there is a huge thick blanket for the bed and another for the people that stay in it to sleep. what happend if you drink coffee and you spill your coffee? or hot soup? [adidas7878]
Why do you want to spill the hot coffe and soup :))) Are you silly? :DDD [Dolcerina]
yeah,i heard of it before,it is amazing and beautiful;i always dream of gonging there! [lanbei]
Yes, I only dream about it too [Dolcerina]
Gorgeous hmmmm. I am sure they are using some especial methods there to preserve the ice and too keep people inside from chilling. I value people for having such unique ideas. But I think maintaining this Ice Hotel would cost so much but it will be a good tourist spot. I hope it can still stand during hot seasons. [hersmart4ever]
I never heard about this new, I visited Sweden fifteen years ago and at that time there was not anything like that. The last year I visited Finland and we went to a "Iced cafe'", the temperature was very cold and there were chairs and tables from ice. You could stay there about ten minutes, you could drink a cocktail in a glass from ice and then you had to go out. [FrancyDafne]
