I will be going to a cruise to Mexico in January. We had to pay a gas surcharge for our trip, but if the price/barrel stays under $70/day for the 30 days before our departure date we get our surcharge rates back!
Does anyone know a website, or where I can go to check day to day the price/barrel.
It needs to be a legitimate place, so I can prove it if need be.
Any help would be appreciated!!!happy

Congratulations on your upcoming cruise, jess368! I enjoy cruising. I don't know of any sites about the price of oil, but that's a good idea to keep up on it for a possible surcharge refund. I hope that someone else is able to provide you with the information. [Transdisc]
Thanks! This will be my first cruise ever, so I am super excited! [jess368]
Check CNBC.com and click on commodities and you will be able to get the closing price on a barrel of oil every day. You can probably print the info each day if you need to prove the price. The one issue that you could run into is how they're defining it. Is it the price that the cruise line paid for the barrel of oil or the price of the close of crude oil. Could be a difference. Anyway, have a great time. Mexico is a beautiful country and cruises are a lot of fun. [LaurenInLA]
You bring up an interesting point on how they define the price of oil... I will need to look into that a bit more. Thank you for the site, and navigation! That was very helpful!!! [jess368]
sorry i dont have really a knowledge about it,but...i just wanna ask this?....can i go with you? hahaha, coz i've never been there, and have'nt experience any cruise in my intire life? hahaha [rcfranz]
LOL! well no, you cant go with me, BUT it was super cheap. My boyfriend and I are going on this 5 DAY CRUISE for less than $800!!! If you are close enough to drive (its a five hour drive for us) than you could rally afford to take a cruise b/c you don't have to worry about the cost of a flight! This will be the first time I ever go on a cruise as well, so I am very excited!!! [jess368]
I would think any reputable stock brokerage firm can give you 30 day qoutes on anything on the open market. Commidity averages would be included in that too. And they are down loadable and printable for the company that offered your tickets. [BCMike]
I would think so. I don't understand the ins and outs by any means, but they keep statistical information like that every month/quarter/annum.... It looks good if someone can track stocks and commodities before buying. [BCMike]

Contact your cruise line. I just got an email today from Online Vacation Center and apparently the Florida Attorney General got involved with the fuel surcharge issue and SOME of these are being eliminated. It varies by cruise line and when the trip was booked. Some of the lines are offering refunds and some are offering shipboard credits. [LaurenInLA]
We just got an email and we were told that our surcharge will be refunded due to the decline of gas prices! I am so excited!!!! [jess368]
Hopefully your still going on your cruise. You surely would not have to pay the surcharge now. Have a good time. [Thoroughrob]
I just got back and we did get our money back! We had a blast! [jess368]
