some people believe that students should be given one long vacation each year.others believe that students should have several short vacations throughout the year,what do you think about this,thanks^^

i think we need long vacations instead of short vacations because students get tired of burden of exams,study and home work all the year and they need a long break to cool down and some students have summer jobs in summer vacations so they could not have if they have short vacations because they have to wind up the home work given for holidays. vacations are fun for students and give them some thing good to look forward. they need proper time to spend with family because less time for visiting trips. visitng trips add information to students and they feel relax after their holidays. long vacations also is important for teachers to cool down and get ready for new session. Both.lol That's because the short vacations are much needed throughout the year just to avoid being burned out. It doesnt really have to last for 2 weeks, maybe a long weekend could do, like maybe 3 days of weekends. That's time enough for the students to be able to do those bunch of homeworks, and still have a day for themselves to rest and have fun. This gives them the renewed energy to take on the week's grueling lessons. The long vacation depends, I mean in the education system, students dont have classes during the summer. But there are also those schools, like in college, where summer school is an option just to advance the study period. It shortens the number of years that the student has to take in the whole course. It's nice to get long vacations but sometimes having that kind of vacation leads to boredom. There isnt much to do, if the family doesnt have any plans. So students on vacation tend to tae up Summer Camps, or Summer classes in the interest that they like.^_^ [bjcyrix]

i am college student and i do get a lot of small vacations but its been so long that i got a big vacation. The small vacations are all the more boring and we wont be able to join any other small projects or any small classes.We would just waste our time sitting in our home. But if its a big vacation we would go out and do something creative. This is from my experience. [zamurai]
it's a scientific fact that students get "classroom fatigue" after about 3-4 weeks of school without a week-or-so break. when a student is suffering from classroom fatigue, it's hard for them to take in anything that they are being taught so it's better to have short week-long breaks every 3-or-so weeks than have fewer, longer ones. I have always favored year round school for students. 8 weeks on and 1 week off or something along those lines. Some kids lose alot when they have 3 months off, especally in the states with the guidelines set forth by the no child left behnd rule..our teach to the M.E.A.P. formula isn't putting us any further ahead. Maybe if we extended the school year fewer kids would fall through the cracks in our educational system. [jewels49]
i think students must have multiple vaccations. i have just finished high school and here in australia we have four school holidays per year. our school year starts at the end of january. we have two weeks in april around easter, two weeks around june/july and two weeks in semptember i think. then the christmas holidays are usually about 10 weeks. each term is about 10 weeks long. Hi Shirley, In our country, students enjoyed lots of breaks and vacations and these are the following: 1. Saturdays and Sundays (given and automatic break/vacation) 2. Official National Holidays 3. Due to bad weather: typhoon, storm, flood - no classes per year level depending on the signal 4. Semestral break, christmas break until new year 5. Summer Vacation the longest among all the breaks I think how the breaks and vacation are designed in our country are just enough for the students to recharge and have some time to relax. I am favorable for several short vacations within the school year and had a longer break for the next year level. In doing so the momentum will be sustained! [msfrancisco9369]
Really? you don't have any vacation or break? Students need break to recharge and attend to their personal needs. Of course there's a reason for the type of school schedule that you have and this has to be cleared or you can advocate for a break. But it has to be a concerted effort that majority among the students plus their parents want to recommend an evaluation about the system. [msfrancisco9369]
I still believe in summer vacation for students. It gives students something to look forward to, and a lot of fun things and adventures happen during summer vacations. Some of the best times I've had during my school years has been during summer vacation. [Picquarian]
