It's that time of the year when my hubby wants to take a short vacation. I usually make plans for it, for end of the year. As usual the cheapest option for us is Malaysia. I know it's the monsoon season and we can't really go to beach resorts, though we would love that. Where do you suggest we go to for the end of the year - end of Nov, early Dec period? We are on a tight budget. Any suggestions you be appreciated. If you have a nice resort to suggest, that would be wonderful too. Hope some Malaysians can help me here. happy

Come to Malta! I don't know if it is cheap or not. I have checked that your location is Singapore. It is a bit far from Malta and I bet it will be a bit expensive. But you can check with low fare airlines and check this out. [ronaldinu]
Malta is a little too far away. I don't think I can afford to do a trip to Europe, although I would love to visit it one day. [SydneyHazelton]
i am a true born penang boy...should come to penang island...Penang island is a paradise for food lovers...Besides that, penang is also famous on beach, pantai kerachut is a must place to visit if u come here for vocation :) [suicai]
I love Penang. It's kind of laid back and the beach is wonderful. I would love to visit Pantai Kerachut one day, but probably not this time, since on a budget. Anyway, I know who to contact if I eventually get around to going there. [SydneyHazelton]
hi sydney i am in service line ... where do you want to go exactly .. KL city Tour / Island Resorts / Beach Resorts ... Beach Resorts are not recommended during the Nov and Dec period as the weather is not good ... it would be the rainy season ... it is better that you limit your tour to the cities like Penang (beach resorts), Kuala Lumpur (shopping) , Malacca (historical) .. Advise me the budget and your family details (adults and children / age / gender) and i can give you "budget suggestions" Welcome to Malaysia cheers [sanjana_aslam]
Hi Sanjana, I've been to KL recently, so not going there again soon. Might go back to Malacca if I can find a nice resort near the beach or something. The other day I saw one on TV but I can't remember the name now. Yikes! It was kind of like near the waterfront. Don't mind that. Family 2 adults and 1 child less than 2 years old. Budget $400-500. Maybe you have some suggestions for me happy [SydneyHazelton]
The beach resorts might be rainy. I have been to Malaysia and I especially enjoyed going to Penang. I saw an amazing looking temple there and if the weather doesn't let you down there are some beautiful palm fringed beaches. Thailand is not far away you know nor is Indonesia. I so enjoyed shopping in Kuala Lumpur. If I went to lovely Malaysia again I would go to historical Malacca and the cool highlands before going up to Redang Island. Good luck planning your trip. [maximax8]
I love Penang, went there 3 times already. Thailand is out, political turmoil and need to take flight, really on tight budget. Indonesia - I have to limit myself to nearby islands like Batam or Bintan. Bintan expensive because transaction is in Singapore dollars. Batam, just went there last June but we like it there. Might go Malacca again. Trying to find a beach place in the monsoon season is quite difficult. I LOVE Redang! I want to go there again and again and again. But not this monsoon season. Thanks Max! Hi there. If you have not been to Genting Highland, you should go there. I have not been there myself, but my brother, parents, sister and in-laws had been there and they said the place is beautiful. From Singapore you can go to Genting Highland by bus. If you want to roam around KL, you can hire a taxi for the whole day. Another place in Malaysia that you can go too is Kuching in Sarawak. There are beautiful beach resorts there like Santubong Kuching resort and Damai beach which are also nice to try coz I had been there. [joyce959]
Hi Joyce, Thank you for the suggestion. My hubby does nt like Genting, although I did suggest it to him. He said too many Singaporeans there. I have not been to Kuching, considering that one if I can get on one of the budget airlines. [SydneyHazelton]
Malaysia one of the best tourist place. It is a very beautiful place and espially patronas tower is very amazing. They provide a very good support to the tourist [thegreatabhi]
I love what Malaysia has to offer. Petronas Tower is pretty amazing! I think we have decided to go to Malacca this time. Someone just asked whetehr we wanted to join them to drive to Malacca, so I think we will take up teh offer. I would mean less expenses on coach. happy [SydneyHazelton]
Well, when ever I go back to Malaysia, I would love to visit Penang. The food there is really good. And I love to visit all the different food places to eat all my favorites before I come back home. How much is your budget actually? There are so many places to go in Malaysia. Are you gunning for a relaxing holiday where you laze all day and be pampered? Or are you going for a retail therapy kind of holiday? Just the two of you? Your children following you? [ahgong]
