Summer Vacation

Summer is upon us and it's time to plan those summer vacations. Do you have yours all planned out? And if so, where are you going? Will you be driving, flying or taking a cruise? Does the high cost (and rising cost) of gasoline and diesel bother you? We are going to be taking several camping trips this summer but will be staying relatively close to home. There are lots of nice campgrounds in my state and we have a few favorites. We'll be going to Bayou Segnette State Park next weekend and then back to Fairview Riverside State Park next month. We were at Fairview Riverside earlier this month and loved it. Our site was great, we could see boats going by on the river. It was really a nice weekend and I'm hoping to book that site again in August or September! What are you planning for vacation this year?

Summer means more work for me. Also, summer in Chicago is always fun, so I like to be over the Lake front during the summer. I like to take vacations to escape cold during the fall. I may take short weekend trips, but not for longer than 3 days. [polachicago]
I don't blame you! I hate cold weather. Thankfully, we don't have as much of it as you do!! Have a wonderful summer! [kareng]

Hey Karen, My family and I are not going anywhere this year, not because we just can't afford it, we can't , but my kids will be doing schoolwork throughout the summer, I've learned the hard way not ot give them the summer off, or its to hard to get them back in. So no summer vacations We hope to take short day trips out to places that won't cost us an arm and a leg. Mooch [oneandonemakesix]
That sounds like a good plan. Kids forget so much during the summer. Its hard to keep them focused!! Have a great summer and I hope you find some great outings for the summer! [kareng]

Sorry can't afford it and staying home to recoup..we will see how next year is..! Have fun and bring me back a present!!! [Rosekitty]
LOL, both of these campgrounds are within a 2.5 hour radious of our home. It's far enough to escape reality and hubby can fish if he wants to. I love the nature trails and spend time in the woods with my camera. I found a baby hummingbird last trip but couldn't get a good focus on him before he took off. Those buggers are fast! [kareng]

Karen if we take a vacation at all this year it will be close to home and probably of a camping nature. We have some great lakes and rivers here in Tennessee, and although I hate being without my bed, I do think we need some family time. Money is tight this year, even with the stimulus that we got from the government that was used to pay up a few bills to lessen the load over the summer. [Angelwhispers]
My son in law used to manage the Ruby Tuesdays in New Iberia. They lived in Lafayette, LA but recently transferred to Natchez, MS. I have a whole new area to explore now. I love those old cities on the bayous! It would have been so neat to have lived back in the plantation days! [kareng]

i won't be doing much. luckily I live near a lake so I can do plenty of swimming and boating. I am going to see my dad in Pa. in acouple of weeks about an 8 hour drive from here, and we may see my hubbys mom in New Hampshire. Other than that and a couple of camping trips I'll be home. [snowy22315]
Same here, we are sticking close to home. It's good that you can combine visiting relatives with getting away! That works too! [kareng]

I don't go on summer vacations at all. Its the busy time in my business. My vacation is in December and thinking about visiting an amusement park. I plan to see some plants tomorrow. [Fishmomma]
Awesome! We have cattails growing natively here too. I think they are a pretty and natural plant! [kareng]

Well, I just got back from Tennessee and Alabama. My daughter and I were there visiting my parents and my in-laws. In August I am headed to Seattle with a friends for her cousin's wedding. I am really excited to see the city as I grew up on the east coast. In September my daughter and I will be flying to Hawaii to meet my husband and welcome him home. I am super excited about that one! [emma412]
Wow, it sounds like you have a lot of things planned! I don't blame you about being excited about going to Hawaii! I'd love to make that trip! Have fun! [kareng]

Well, it looks like the only get-away we can afford this year is a weekend trip to Schlitterbahn. It's a waterpark on a river in New Braunsfel, TX. The kids like it. I'm looking forward to just getting away and shopping at the Outlet Mall. [perrytx]
I've heard of that Water Park. It sounds like a load of fun! I hope you guys have a blast! The outlet mall also sounds like fun! [kareng]

Because i don't have many money, i hardly go out to spend my summer vacation . I just stay at home, watch tv ,help Mother, and so on .You are fortunatele,i really appricate you. Good luck to you summer vacation [kl8yang]

Though summer has passed here, I would still like to share what I and my friends did two moths ago. We went to a beach, we chose one which is not that crowded so we could enjoy our private moments altogether. We went partying, lit up a bonfire and drunk all night. It's been fun, we also get to eat freshly caught fish on a nearby village. My sister even bought a kiddie pool, because summer is too hot here and we don't have any a/c to counter the heat. [raijin]
Awesome! Glad you had a fun time. [kareng]

i dont really have any plan this coming summer bcoz first of all i dont have enough money to go out of town so hopefully nxt yr.anyway i just take my kids to any park and pool close here in our place only:-)and most of all spending time tith them most of the time:-) [baleleng2008]
Sounds like you will still have fun with your kids! Most cities have some free events for kids. Check your newspaper :) [kareng]

camping is a great idea! We won't be doing much because finances are very tight right about now. We'll find a way of having some fun. [sid556]
I love camping and spending time outdoors. It's a great family activity too! [kareng]

I feel like we are on a permanent summer vacation. We became Full Time RVers in August and just loving life and traveling now. We ARE workcamping for the next year but its so much fun and so different from what we used to do. We get to meet all the travelers during this summer vacation season. [sisterjinx]
Awesome! That sounds like my kind of retirement! I'm going to have to check on some of those work-camping deals in the next few years. I know USGS has them in national parks. Can you share some of your findings? [kareng]

Well, it is now the end of July and I still haven't gone on a holiday. I have moved to Calgary and since I am here and building a cleaning business I don't have the time to go on a holiday. I am hoping that for New Year's Eve, my daughter and I will be able to take some time off, and go to Las Vegas for a holiday. I have been there several times, including on New Year's Eve, and it is a lot of fun. My daughter has never been to Vegas and wants to go, so we will see. My hubby, who I left 4 months ago, is coming for a visit next week, for two weeks, and so we may go somewhere and do something for a holiday. Again, we'll see. [chrislotz]
I wish you good luck with the new business! I hope you can find some time for a few days off too! [kareng]
