Tom Cruise has a new movie coming out called Valkyrie where he plays a Nazi who plans to kill Hitler. What are your thoughts about this movie? Does it sound good or completely lame? Do you want to see it when it comes out?
My intial impression was that this was going to be one of the worst movies ever made, but I recently saw a preview for it and I have to admit I am intrigued. In the preview, the movie looked very visually interesting, so it might be pretty to watch. But I still think the plot sounds stupid. How can I be expected to cheer for a Nazi?
Also, I am curious as to whether or not this movie is based on a true story or is it all made up. Does anyone know?

The movie is based on actual events. I assume that there is some creative liberties taken to make the film more appealing. The story is great and if it weren't for Tom Cruise starring, I would be likely to see it. I have an objection to giving my hard earned money to watch a movie, only to see the money go to a person so nutty and mixed up as Tom Cruise is. Can you say Scientology? I haven't watched a thing he's made since just before the release of Mission Impossible 2. His actions prior to the release of Mission Impossible 3 were undoubtedly the most idiotic display from an actor since the beginning of time. [DrMario]
I agree that I don't really want to give my money to Tom Cruise, or really any celebrity. I don't even know what movies he has made recently except for this one. I feel really curious about seeing this movie, but if it means that I have spend a lot of money, then I don't think so. [kkthom3]
hi kkthom! oh who knows that tom cruise is up to! i think he is a good actor, but i think he is also pretty eccentric to the point of being crazy. anyway, i even wonder how their lives are, i mean what life is to katie holmes. she seems to be pampered, but we don't know what happens behind closed doors. anyway, if tom cruise is a nazi, it will come as no surprise to me. after all, he is a stark member of the church of scientology. hehe take care and God bless you! merry christmas! It is based on a true story.There were a group of Nazi generals that tried to kill Hitler.I have seen the promos and I think I want to see the film too.Tom Cruise is a fine actor.Just because he is a sex symbol doesn't mean he can't act.This is a different role for him. He went through the teen idol, the action star, the romantic lead, and now character actor. This is great. [sarahruthbeth22]
I just saw Valkyrie and it was great, Tom Cruise was fabulous. It is a true thriller which is hard to do with this story because we history buffs Know how it ends. I won't be surprised if this film gets nominated for Oscars in cinematography and editing.Have you seen the film? [sarahruthbeth22]

As it is based on factual events, it might be interesting to see. I have seen previews. It may go on my netflix list. But I doubt I will see it in a theatre. [ersmommy1]
