Tom Cruise The New Christ!

Scientologists have hailed Tom Cruise as their new "Christ". He's the chosen one. Wow, there's a religion I'm staying away from. Whoever thinks Tom Cruise is "Christ", yikes. What do you think??

You have to be kidding??? This is sick. I think it is a lot of balogna!! Makes you wonder if he started the rumor himself for publicity reasons. [kareng]
I know, it's crazy, check this out http:www.rte.ie/arts/2007/0124/cruiset.html. [bonbon664]

Wow, that is frightening and scary. There is no way I would ever join a religion that claims Tom Cruise is their Christ. That is just nuts. Scientology is just a crazy religion that I believe celebrities came up with. They are not in the same state of mind as normal people, and acting the way he does would disprove any theory that he is Christ or holy. Wow, I am still laughing:D [spreadingtheword]
L Ron Hubbard, a relatively bad science fiction author, founded Scientology for a tax exemption when he went bankrupt. [misskatonic]

Of course they have. Who's funding them these days? Why, it's Tom Cruise! he's donated more money to their cause than any other individual. I find it hilarious that people still take this religion seriously. L Ron Hubbard announced, years before he founded it, that if he was ever in financial trouble, he'd just create a fake religion and make money that way. And look, when he was bankrupt, he founded Scientology.... [misskatonic]
I laughed at the story, there was a story that accompanied it that he failed to convince Victoria and David Beckham to join. I feel sorry for poor Posh, when they move to the USA, they're going to get harrassed all the time by Tom and Katy. [bonbon664]

Scientology is scary; Tom Cruise is scary. What a combination... yikes is right. [peavey]

there is only ONE Christ and it most defintely is NOT Tom Cruise [ptennant01]

poor Katie....I don't know what happened to Tom Cruise, I thought he was ok way back in the day, but now I can't stand him. [trouble4u2avoid]

ROFLMFAO omg are you serious?! hahahahahaha thats too damn funny!! Their new "Christ" is a raging freakin loon who is a control freak, self absorbed and completely oblivious to his insanity...NICE....WAY TO REPRESENT YOUR FAITH *falls over gigglin like crazy* [Ravenladyj]
I know, I had to post it, I thought it was really funny. Really gives the whole religion validity doesn't it? [bonbon664]

Tom Cruise as the new Christ? How ridiculous. He is just a human like the rest of us, no better, no worse. [pebbles724]

What I dont get is why HIM? I mean why TOM CRUISE? Was he born in a manger or something? Jews had to wait millennia for their messiah and here scientologists get theirs just like that. Man, nothing is fair in life is it? [dynaweb]

Scientology is a cult not a religion, just do a google search for it and you will uncover some of the horror stories surrounding this cult [willocfc]

christ is christ and tom cruise is tom cruise. nothing more... [erica_joice]

The Greek word "christos" means anointed. The Lord Jesus Christ is the anointed of God. Jesus is the Lord and the Christ who is the Savior. Perhaps somebody but definitely not God anointed Tom Cruise as their lord and savior and that is not impossible. But only the Lord Jesus Christ can save! The Holy Bible says that false christs and false prophets shall arise and now there are so many false christs and false prophets. Christians, beware! [arseniajoaquin]

Oh you have to be kidding me?! I guess they gotta keep their money rolling in. But he is such a fruitcake and I still don;t like him ever since the Brooke Shields episode. [mom2chriskel]

Are you serious??? I have not heard this. How ridiculous is that?? LOL This is just going to make tom cruise even more of a laughingstock then he already is. [fluffyfrog]

Initially I first thought that was a joke, some kind of pre-April fool joke, even if it is true and excuse me while I finish laughing, who on earth picked Tom Cruise? Why him? People have a warped imagination! The world just gets crazier, thank you for sharing, certainly got the laugh it so rightly deserves out of me. [wolfie34]

Scientologists have done no such thing. Nobody within Scientology believes Tom Cruise is anything but a nice guy and a fellow parishioner. The thing about "Christ" was a bu11shit story printed by a sleazy UK tabloid (UK Sun) and already debunked in many news websites. The Church of Scientology has already publicly denounced this story as completely 100% false. best, Greg Scientologist and proud of it http://www.liveandgrow.org [LiveAndGrow]

I had heard about this too and got a good laugh out of it. I can picture him in his undies, wearing sunglasses, dancing to Bob Seger, and recruiting new members, LOL. There was an article in "Rolling Stone" magazine about Scientology a couple of months ago and it was really enlightening. It went into detail about how this religion started, their beliefs, and the commitment that you are expected to put forth. Several ex-scientologists commented upon the freedom they felt when they decided to leave; definitely not something for me. [gardengalz]
You made some good points. I read Rolling Stone amongst several other magazines. Readers Digest (the Canadian Edition) also had a good article on Scientology. You should post a discussion on the subject as I'm sure others would be interested. [gardengalz]

No, Cruise is NOT the "new Christ" - this was a false story that ran on a sleazy UK tabloid called "UK Sun" The Church of Scientology already shot down this ridiculous claim on many news sites. http://news.bostonherald.com/letters/view.bg?articleid=179702 No Scientologist believes such idiocy. PEOPLE! Don't believe every rumor you hear. [LiveAndGrow]

Well, I had to run a google to check for myself the extent of this particular craziness. It sounds like, from an interview I read in the Sun where they were saying things like, " been chosen to spread the word of his faith throughout the world." and "Like Christ, he's been criticised for his views. But future generations will realise he was right. Poor Tom. I think they took someone who needs to be needed and fed his ego until it blazed like bonfire. Of course he is going to eat this up. Katie must be so embarassed. Her parents must be horrifified. Somehow, I think future generations are NOT going to be thinking he was 'right'! [seamonkey]
