The First time i go travel alone is when i graduated from High School. I'm going to my sister's home and looking for university to college. the first time i feel nervous because i never leave my hometown alone. But with direction that my sister give make me more confident and go to her home without any troubles [gnoyvanndaroe]
I was nine years of age when I traveled alone via plane from Atlanta to Denver. I had never been on a plane before, peering out a side window at puffy white clouds way ... way down there, so needless to say the experience was naturally quite harrowing. But after chewing gum on the trip to relieve air pressure that made my ears pop, and meeting a nice lady whom talked to me and often times made me laugh (as well as telling me I was a BRAVE little boy), I relaxed and didn't feel so afraid anymore. As a matter of fact, I felt like a big boy and looked forward to the return flight home. [terranceb]

I was 16 when I left home to go to the university. My mother travelled with me the very first time to help me in finding accommodation and making sure that I have everything I would need in preparation for school. She certainly did not pick me up afterwards when it's vacation time. I went home by myself (it's a 2 hour plane ride back home). The first time I went home, I was really excited and at the same time afraid that I would not find the airport, miss the plane or even get in the wrong flight and end up in another strange city. In the end, my excitement of seeing my folks outweighed all my fears. It turned out fine. Since then, I do not mind travelling alone. Nowadays, I don't do it anymore because we always travel as a family (except hubby who has to go occasionally for work). [involved62]
Hello friend, That was a bit far,2 hour plane ride. Yah,i think most travel first experiences were due to studying/schooling at other places.Or,moving to other place like visiting relatives too. Thanks for your response and have a great day always happy [jaiho2009]

Well first of all, I'm quite the loner by nature, so it's probably easier for me. But in going home and back for breaks from college, I've taken train/bus trips that last 12-15 hours and span several hundred miles. I love these trips. All the alone time with the soothing motion of the train is wonderful. I really think people could benefit from taking more time to do nothing and be alone and have some quality introspection. [thepeteris]
Hello friend, Oh,if you are a loner,i bet travelling alone was never been a problem to you, but,i guess you really preferred to travel all alone all the time. Yah,loner think being alone is better ...for retrospect, most loner were retrospective all the time,so they love being alone. But sometimes having company won't hurt too my friend, for some changes, and interactions too. Anyway, thanks for your response and keep postinghappy [jaiho2009]

My first big journey on my own was by coach from my house to Readng which was about 3-4 hours. I had to change coaches at London and then again at an airport so I was a bit nervouse about that, I was scared that I was going to get on the wrong coach and end hundreds of miles away from Reading. But everything went fine, I just kept double checking everything with the drivers and it was all fine. [SuzyLong]
Hello Suzy, Same feeling with me,when i first travel alone. I wrote the bus number and when the bus stopped at bus stations for 10 mins,i never dare to go far,i also use the toilet very quick fearing the bus will leave me(hahaha). Thanks for your response and happy mylotting alwayshappy [jaiho2009]

hi jaiho.( do u know that "jai ho" is the first two words of a song of the latest oscar award winner movie "slumdog millionaire"?)hahhaha.... after my post graduation i went to shillong( about 250 kms) for an interview. i was almost 25 when i visited shillong. ohhh... i was afraid of for an unknown city and eventually i reached the destination at evening time. i had to stay at hotel but i were unknown about it. after some while i got a hotel which rent was too much according to my wallet. so i searched a cheper one and i got it. at the very morning i came out for interview and in the evening i returned to my home. thats the story... hahaha.... [shibham]
mobile caller tune?whistle [shibham]

You brought back some real old memories. I remember that day quite vividly. I was to go to Pune a nearby city about a 125 kms from my home. I was to go there and collect some important documents from a very big organization. I was 15 at that time. I was so very nervous. My first visit alone far from my home. The worst thing was I didn't even know the exact location, and then I had to meet some real serious people and convince them to hand over the documents to me. It was intimidating. I was so apprehensive to start the journey. I still remember that early morning as if it were yesterday. [bodhisatya]
Hello friend, Nice to see again dear friend. So your first experience was really exciting and adventurous. Going to a place with no exact address,i don't think i can make it at that very young age,and to talk with people for some documents...nah,that's way too brave of you and very confident too dear. Thanks for sharing your experience here my friend and keep posting. Have a great day always too! [jaiho2009]

i was 15 years old when i traveled alone and it took me 2 days and three nights. I felt scared yet excited. It's really hard to travel alone especially if you were young. You don't know what's gonna happen to you while travelling. But because of it i was able to mingle different kinds of people. I met friends there but i don't have any contacts with them because we lived away and i guess but time i didn't have any communication tool like phone. But it is really an amazing experience. I won't forget it for the rest of my life. [jhenn22]
Hello jhenn, That's really cool,2 days and 3 nights all alone by yourself at very young age. I guess you travel thru ship..am i right my friend? You are very brave then, and i guess that was really exciting too. Thanks for sharing your experience here and keep posting my friendhappy [jaiho2009]

[25thseaweed]

I was always travelling with my family when I was in grade school. Then when I was fifteen I had to go alone to the next province. In the city I was to meet my mom. I hopped on a jeepney then took a barge which was almost an hour then rode a bus which took almost 4 hours. I was never scared but a little nervous. I just remembered the landmarks and counted the towns and even the kilometers marks on the highway. I've been to this city many many times but it was my first time to travel alone when I was fifteen. After that I always travel alone especially when my freinds or cousins would invite me to go to their city or town. [sandymay16]
Hello sandy, You are really smart to remember all the landmarks and even the kilometers(great). At least you are way too familiar with the place, and you are also brave by the age 15 to travel all alone. Thanks for your response and have a great day always..keep posting too happy [jaiho2009]

Travelling alone - excluding single days for university interviews at the age of 17 maybe? confusedFirst time I went on holiday on my own I was 18. I arranged through an agency in the UK to stay with a family (who had teenage children themselves) in France for a week. I wanted to study French at university, and my parents were not quite so concerned as I would be looked after like a family member for my time abroad. If I had simply gone off hitch-hiking as some of my friends did, they would have tried to stop me from goingangry. I was quite apprehensive at first (I was, and am still - even at my age - very shy). The journey was quite trying, trains in the UK even then were not all that reliable. And having to get off the train at Dover, get on a ferry at Folkestone, get off the ferry and on to a train in Boulogne, and finally make my way to Paris - this was all rather complicated. The stay with the family though was wonderfulrolleyes. They were marvellous people, very hospitable, and helped very much to improve my linguistic skills. I enjoyed myself immensely, and I was very sad when I had to leave and go back home. [astonysh]
Hello friend, That was really great...it sounds like more of an adventure. And to think you are too young to travel that far. Anyway, you enjoyed a lot friend...and i guess you will be having more fun next tour. Thanks for sharing your experience and keep posting toohappy [jaiho2009]

I started to alone when I got my first job. I went a lot of places because of my job and I have meet different people and culture. Traveling alone is fun and also a great adventure because you are free to do anything and learn something new each time I go to new places. You can discover beautiful sites you don't expect to see. I miss those time now 'cuz right now I don't travel a lot these past years as a married person. Hope I can travel again but not alone but with my family. [kryptoscode]
Hello friend, That's great, you have travelled a lot of places, and seen beautiful sceneries too. I always wish to travel and see other places too. Thanks for sharing your experience and keep posting too my friendhappy [jaiho2009]

[carrillo_zeny]
Hello friend, Precisely, why go to far places when you can explore beautiful countries near your place.Maybe after travelling your nearby countries, then you can start exploring western country too. I always love to see London...i wish someday to reach that place(hopefully) Thanks for sharing your experience and keep posting too my friendhappy [jaiho2009]

lolhello jaiho, The first time i started traveling alone was way back grade six, when i was going to school in the morning.when ever i go home from my school in manila to a jeepney. the only terrible experienced i got was falling from a jeepney when attempting to go down with out saying "para" but then i got up and then walk and whistle as if nothing happenedwhistle [LetranKnight25]
Hello Letran, Well, that's good...and yah, nowadays, smaller kids travel all alone from home to school and vice versa.I see kids as young as 8 yrs.old i guess. And regarding your "fall down" experience...as per new generation says.."kaya mo un"(hehehe)Kids now never sees embarrassing moment as humiliation, but instead, they sees it as funny experiences.(minsan nakakainis maybe becoz,i can't relate sometimes..age gap you know lolz). Thanks for sharing your experience and have a good day always my friendhappy [jaiho2009]

the first time I traveled alone was during college, I was going to the city where the university was.. my parents drove me to the terminal of the bus, and then I traveled alone from there to the city, I think the travel time was just 2 hours, but I was really nervous then. lol. after that, I think it took me a couple of months before I got used to traveling alone. happy [Ingkingderders]
Hello friend, I guess almost everyone had same experience with you..having their first travel is going to universities/school away from home. Yah,it is really mixed emotions, nervous and excited, but really good feeling too of independence and self confidence. Thanks for sharing your experience here and keep posting my friend happy [jaiho2009]

My first out of the country travel happened just last year. I went to Singapore and then crossed Malaysia via train. It was scary and fun at the same time. Since it will be my first time to travel to Malaysia and via train, I have no clue to where exactly I am going except for the maps and directions I printed from the internet. It took me a couple of hours before I get to the train station. But it was all fun now that I get to reminisce it and share it with my friends. They admire me for being brave. Some don't even believe that I did it alone. But I am proud to say that I did it alone and between those travel, I made a couple of nice friends. I'll definitely try to travel alone next time. :) [NurseMathilda]
Hello friend, That's brave of you to travel with no specific destinations to a very new place and country. But i guess that was really great and exciting, somewhat an adventure too. Thanks for sharing your experience here and keep posting my friendhappy [jaiho2009]

Well, i first commuted alone when I was in high school. I was so confused on my way home and where to ride and where to stop. Good thing I was able to find a friend who pointed how exactly I can get home. Happy MyLotting! [shizuka15]
Hello friend, That's exactly the fear is my friend, being confused on the right directions where to ride, where to stop. It's a mixed feeling of nervous and excitement, but real fun and when we get used to it,the feeling of self confidence and independence too. Thanks for sharing your experience here and keep mylotting toohappy [jaiho2009]

My first big traveling alone experience was a 500km++ journey from home to the Kuala Lumpur. I was 21 years old and going to start my practical training. I didn't feel anything throughout the journey though. It was night and I sleep throughtout the journey. It already morning when I arrived and my cousin arrived half an hour later. [prinzcy]
Hello friend, Good you sleep all throughout the journey and someone fetch you on the station of your destination, that is maybe why you feel so secured. But you missed talking with some strangers becoz you sleep all along the journey my friendhappy. Thanks for sharing your experience here and keep posting too [jaiho2009]

The first foreign country I have gone is Laos. I went to Laos alone. Do you believe that? I like to travel alone. Because at that time, I don't depend on any timetable or anyone. I like freedom. I can go anywhere I want, do everything I need. But I had to pay a lots of money to that travel because I can't share with anyone. [pooh08]
Hello friend, Some people really loves to travel alone, like, having an adventure of their own. Most explorer loves to travel alone,as if,they want to search and feel the fun without any hassle with anybody. Thanks for sharing your experience here and hope to hear your next destination. Keep posting my friend and enjoy your travelhappy [jaiho2009]

The first trip that I did oversees alone was at age 18. I worked as a children's nanny in Finland and after that I ended I traveled around Europe by train. I enjoyed staying at friendly youth hostels where I met many other backpackers. I went to Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Germany, Belgium, Hungary and France. My trip lasted all summer. [maximax8]
Hello friend, That's a great experience i guess, travel around EUROPE.I always wish to travel LOndon, wishing it would come true somedayhappy. Thanks for sharing your experience and keep posting my friend [jaiho2009]

I experience traveling at the age of 3years old when my parents accompanied me to attend the burial of grandmother and have to travel for more than 7 hours to reach the places. It is really tiring by just sitting down and nothing to do while on the bus. I enjoy looking at the bus window as we pass by a lot of beautiful scenes is seen while riding and this takes away my boredom. [neelianoscet]
Hello neel, That was a long trip, and good to know you enjoy the trip. But,at what age you have experienced to travel all alone by yourself? thanks for sharing your early age travel...hoping to see you sharing your first ever trip alone by yourself. Keep posting my friendhappy [jaiho2009]

HI Jaiho, The first time I travel alone is when I was in overseas for study. It is my own choice to study overseas and I have to be brave enough to travel alone. I did feel bit nervous at first ,and after a while, it is actually nothing to be nervous. I have to be independent and know how to takecare myself. I even rent a room and stay on my own, only the house owner will do the laundry and cooking for me.So I can fully concentrate on my study. During my study,I have to travel myself with the public transport from house to school. Singapore is a nice place and public transport is so convenience and the local people there are quite friendly. Whenever ,I lost my ways and need help, I just need to open up my mouth and ask. What to say is that when you are in overseas and not sure about the place, be brave enough to ask around.Keep quiet won't solve your own problem. [shia88]
Hello friend, Precisely my friend, asking people's help is the best thing to do when we are travelling all alone in a strange or new place, not to mention overseas or other country. Yes,Singapore is one of the most beautiful place in Asia, transportation is very convenient and very well organized too. And,being independent is one of the best we can achieve for living and travelling alone by ourselves. Thanks for sharing your experience and keep posting my friendhappy [jaiho2009]

The first time I traveled alone, I was 18 and I flew from California to Florida to visit my boyfriend. I had a lot of feelings throughout that trip that combined together. I was afraid, nervous, excited, adventurous. It was a wonderful and terrifying experience :P [phoenix1344]
hello friend, precisely, just as almost everyone felt the first time they travel all alone. Nervous and terrified but also fun and exciting. Your experience was really an adventure i think becoz you travelled by plane if i am right my friend. Thanks for sharing your experience and keep posting happy [jaiho2009]

i was 17 and moving to a new town, i had left my family because of my stepdad, he was a monster and i didn't want to live at home any more so i left and moved, i loved it, i got a place to live that same day and i had a job within 3 days, i lived there for about 2 years then went back to my home town, met my ex husband, go married had kids, then divorced 7 years later, then i decided to move again taking the kids with me, we had alot of fun being on our own because my ex was a bully and a thug....but my first experience travelling alone was great... [puddytatt]
Hello friend, I guess your first travel was more of a freedom since you left for a good reason. And you are so lucky to be independent and that gives you a lot of self confident now. Your kids are lucky to have you,a brave mom, tough mother and very confident one. Thanks for sharing your experiences my friend and wish you all the best of everything and good health.Take care toohappy [jaiho2009]

As far as I remember, I traveled all alone when I was 11 year old. That time I wasn't with my family, not even my parents. I was with my school group. Is that counted as traveling all alone ? =) If yes, I must admit that the experience was very good. I just want to go back to the time we were spending time together with all my teachers, and it stays in my heart as one sweet memory. Now we are spread all over the world, and probably won't see each other, not anymore. =( [charlies2805]
Hello friend, Thu it is not exactly that you travel alone, becoz, you had your teachers and maybe some classmates too. But,still i can say it a great experience since you are too young at age 11 and with no any parent or a guardian to accompany you. Oh,that's really sad then they are all in far places, but life really uncertain my friend.Who knows, one of these days you will be able to see anyone of them. Thanks for sharing your experience and keep posting my friend, have a good day always happy [jaiho2009]

Hmm, never truly alone (alone on the flight, but family would meet me at the airport...) until I was 27. Traveled to Europe by myself. It was both exhilarating (it was an adventure) and lonely (I wished I had loved ones to share the experience with). [wahmivy]
Hello friend, I guess you are late for travelling all alone by the age of 27,most responses here were as young as 15. But,when you travel alone on the flight,it is still considered travelling alone. So,i guess you are used to travel alone in flights and family members will meet you at the airport. Thanks for sharing your experience here my friend and keep posting. Have a good day always happy [jaiho2009]

I traveled throughout childhood to different things like camps, etc, back home in England. The first time I traveled alone for anything else I suppose was when I stayed in London for a couple of weeks at 18 - I did work experience at the Palace Theatre, on the show 'Les Miserables', as a dresser. The first time I went on a holiday alone (well, with a friend of my age) was a couple of years later, to Florence, Italy for a week, which was amazing. That is the one place I would love to go back to. Traveling frequently is something I miss now I live in America and am married. Can't afford it now! I hope eventually to go back to Italy, and Ireland, to see a lot more of America (I am in New England) and to be able to go back to England more often. [EnglishTeaDuck]
Hello friend, Wow,you are amazing my friend, you work as a dresser in "LES MISERABLES" I guess you had the chance of meeting our very own "Lea Salonga" the " MISS SAIGON" star. You travelled a lot,how i wish i can also travel as far as EUROPE. Thanks for sharing your experience and keep posting, have a good day alwayshappy [jaiho2009]

Do you mean alone as in with no one else or do you mean alone with out parents with you. I have never actually traveled all alone before, but my first trip without my parents happened when I was 19. Me and two friends of mine went from Illinois to Florida. We took a Grey Hound bus. It was a little scary. Especially when we got to the bus station and had to take a cab and my two friends went to check on a hotel leaving me in the car with the cabby who hit on me, it also cost us a lot of money for the cab which we had not planned on. I was young and inexperienced and didn't realize how far the hotel was from the bus station, and had never ridden in a cab before so I didn't realize how expensive it would be. It all worked out but the trip ended up costing us a lot more than we had budgeted, which meant we had to get really creative about meals. [ladym33]
hello friend, I guess that was the real adventure and excitement with travelling alone(without parents). The money shortage, how to manage your own money and do the budgetting. That's one good experience you had with your friends, and i think that was real fun too, going to a new place. Thanks for sharing your experience and keep posting my friend,Have a good day alwayshappy [jaiho2009]

I first traveled alone when I was 16. It was a long (6 or 8 hour) plane ride to NYC and I remember sitting there with my seatbelt on, having no idea how I could take it off! It was like a torture the whole flight, as I was too shy then to ask anybody for help! I can only laugh about it now though, but I have seen traveling alone doing wonders for other young people, as I think it gave them confidence in themselves and a big sense of achievement, so I am all for it! [sylvia13]
Hello friend, You got it right dear, the self confidence. And,after that first experience, you will feel being independent and,the fun and excitement will never be forgotten. I can imagine the looks in your eyes, when you want to take off that belt and can't say the right words to ask your seatmate(hehehe)and there you are feel blushing without saying anything. Count it as one of your greatest adventure in a lifetime, Thanks for sharing your experience my friend and keep posting. Have a good day always happy [jaiho2009]

I travel alone, when i was 20 years old, it was my on the job training,on Cebu city, via boat in Super ferry, it is a nice trip, i seen beautiful places, and i am so glad that i made it. [Preciousgem]
Hello friend, I always love to travel by ship/boat rather than plane. I always love to see the waves and meet new friends too. Super ferry is one of the grandest boat,so i guess you really enjoyed your first travel by yourself. Thanks for sharing your experience and keep posting my friend, have a good day alwayshappy [jaiho2009]

When I was in school and college I had a very protective life.As a young girl I would go to college and come back alone. That is all. So,, at the age of 18 , once I had to attend a function at my aunt's place [Pudulottai]which is roughly some 50kilometres from my hometown Trichy..After food in my aunt's place I had to go back to attend the afternoon session in my class because it was a test that day [ a test that I would never miss because my favourite lecturer was teaching the subject and I always got the first mark in that particular subject].So, my father escorted me to the busstophappyhappyand i travelled by bus for an hour or so to reach college and complete my test.Thatwas the first time I had to travel alone to a place thta was outside Trichy and I was as thrilled as though I were travelling abroad[all adventurous and daring--how silly can young girls getwink] [kalav56]
hello friend, That was great, becoz i were of a mixed emotions, excitement and scared becoz u travelled all alone. But the eagerness to make it not to miss your exam or it is better to say,not to miss your lecturer(hehehe) Young girls,yes...full of life and always wanted attention and care(as i do when i was young too) Thanks for sharing your experience and keep posting my friendhappy [jaiho2009]

hello jaiho! how are you? well, well, the very first time that i remember i travel alone is when i am on my grade 2! hehe yes, my mom lets me travel alone at that very young age from school to our house, but its just about 15-20 mins ride...of course i am nervous coz i am afraid that i might not get home...haha what my mom do that time is wait for me on road where the jeepney stops so that she ill accompany me in crossing the street...but that's just fine with me, coz after a week i found a new friend from my class who have the same way going home, and from that time we always travel together going home...actually she's also the oldest friend i have now... then, the first time i travel alone in a farther place is when i am in highschool...i travel alone from laguna-makati...hehe again, nervous and excited, but anyway i have my younger cousins with me, that mekes me even nervous coz they are on my responsibility that time... and another first time traveling alone for me is when i am about 20 yrs old...its the first time i travel by plane alone! haha i went to cagayan de oro for a vacation...experience is great but really i feel nervous coz i don't kno what to do that time...just good that i meet few people on the airport who helps & guide me along the way...happy [ckyera]
hehe... well i have no choice that time...i guess that's my mom's way of teaching me, but anyway, before she lets me travel by myself, she gives me instructions and everyday that she send me to school, she don't stop teaching me where to ride and where to alight...hehe i know that she's also nervous on the first day that she lets me travel alone...haha you know, what just i don't like that time is that, some jeepney drivers don't let us ride in their jeepney! huh! like when we wave on them to stop, they will not stop even if there's still some seats available...angry you are right there, i also don't like asking for directions to other people coz sometimes, they just make it more difficult for us...that's why i also don't like going alone in a new place...huh! it reminds me my experience in makati when i am still working there...i don't know how to go to the makati hall of justice, but i have to go there coz my boss & i will meet there...waaah! i ask people where to get jeepney going there...huh! and it takes me some time before i get the right direction...huh! coz some people there just give wrong directions! and i ended up walking without direction! haha just thankful that i found one good samaritan helping me to find the right way...hehe [ckyera]

Hi Jaiho20009, when I was 14, in the summer before entering high school, I went to England with my teacher and some other students from other schools, and we spent there two weeks, studing English. The first time I traveled without a group and a teacher was when I was eighteen, in the summer after the fourth year of high school. I spent 1 month in Dublin. That was the best ever. happy mylotting [XiaoLin]
yah, mothers are always sentimental my friend. My mom lives in UK...almost the other side of the globe where we lived in(Philippines). And she visited us once in every year, she stayed with us for 2 months, and then, everytime she goes back to London, she still cries(sad). Thanks for posting again dearhappy [jaiho2009]

Good day jaiho2009 Talking about traveling I just love traveling alone my friend perhaps when I was at the age of 15 I already know how to travel on my own from our province to another province means of transportation is by taxi then boat after a motorcycle then a bus then another motorcycle it's easy if you already know or familiar with the place and also it is really important that when you are lost you may find help and be able to explained to the authority about your destination. [vopols]
Precisely my friend,i am also a mother of 3 kids, and at early age i always tried to give them guidance how to start being independent. Like travelling alone, cooking food, and taking care of their belongings. Thanks again too my friendhappy [jaiho2009]

I never got a chance to travel alone either my family or my friends have been with me must see in future how it will be when i get old LOL. [fan_philo]
Hello friend, I hope you can post back your experience when you had it. Who knows, tomorrow maybe you will be travelling alone...happy thanks for your response my friend and keep posting [jaiho2009]

in a mountain near our town a climb it with my own so scary but exciting. [jhimx28]
It is really a bit scary, travelling or climbing mountain all alone. I guess i can't do it my friend..i would rather travel by plane and go abroad without exact directions rather than climbing the mountain alone(im scared of beast and wild animals huhuhu) Thanks for sharing your experience and keep posting happy [jaiho2009]

I travel alone at the age 17. That is when I go to college. I feel so excited then and feel also lonely because I think what will be the life of being away from my family. Feel excited because I'd try to live alone in far place without being assisted by any relatives... [aerous]
Don't be wonder about aerous username, jaiho. That is a cute name..lol. Have a nice day! [aerous]

My first trip without my parents was to a youth camp in France when I was 14. It felt save - there were adults with us and I had friends with me. But it felt so grown-up! With 17 I went on holiday for the first time with friends and no adult supervision. It was great. I felt so free and important. Especially as I fell in love on holiday and came home with a brand new boyfriend! But my best travel experience was when I was 19 and went to Spain for one semester at university. If felt as if the world was at my feet. A completely new life and experience and I was completely on my own. It made me realise how strong I really was in myself! [taraelocin]
Hello tara, This is it my friend, achieving self confident and the feeling of being independent. The experiences of travelling alone makes it worth really to build our self confidence. And the adventure too,the excitement, the feeling of being a winner and feel free from all the supervisions and following strict instructions(lolz) Youngsters...really full of life, and someone/everybody shouldn't miss that teenage life. Thanks for your response and have a good day always dear. Keep posting too happy [jaiho2009]

I have never traveled alone and I'm almost 28 years old. I always travel with other people. I usually travel with my family and I have traveled with friends before too. I think it's kinda dangerous to travel alone. At least if you have two people if anything were to happen like your tire blew out on your car or something you would have at least two people there to work on the problem. [sweetgirl_k1]
Hello friend, That is one problem with travelling alone.Unexpected things to happen. I would never travel that way all alone, driving my car for distant places with no one especially during night time (ohhh so scary) But to travel alone riding in a bus is ok,or in train and plane with others passengers. Thanks for your response and have a good day always. Keep posting my friendhappy [jaiho2009]

The first time I travelled alone was going by bus to a neighbouring town. I was only a kid. I felt like I was all grown up. [sallysue]
Hello sally, Yah,the feeling of being independent makes us feel like grown ups. And you are so lucky to have travel on your own at very young age. It is one way of achieving self confidence i guess. Thanks for your response and have a good day always my friend..keep postinghappy [jaiho2009]

hi jaiho, i have not remember my first travel alone, but i remember that in the year i think 1990,i have first time traveled alone to Maldives ,on that time i have some excitement, because first time i am traveling foreign country,i know Telugu,Hindi and English so so,after going there i have managed, where i stayed 3 nights, have a nice day [yugasini]
hi jaiho, thanks for the response/comment,and i have traveled to Thailand and Singapore with some group of members, there are also i am exited when going to new countries, new places and meeting new persons, have a nice day [yugasini]

You did not say just what constitutes travel. I first experienced independent travel at age 9. I was allowed to board the interurban, a type of trolley that traveled between the city and some of the small towns a few miles out. If flagged down, it would stop and pick up passengers. We lived on a farm, 5 miles from the nearest town. My parents would allow me to flag down the interurban and go to town to check out books at the public library, and usually, to pick up a few groceries for my mother. One summer, I even took piano lessons in town. I don't remember being scared or even nervous. I was more nervous when I took my first plane ride where I had to change planes. I was probably 50 years old at that time. [bellis716]
Hello bellis, I am sorry if was not too descriptive with my question, but anyway you have wrote a good experience in here. That's one good example of self confidence you wrote in here, you can travel all alone at the age of 9 from your home to town. 5 miles is a bit far already and to think that you are just 9 yrs old by then. Your plane experience travel is another thing i guess, even if i am too,at my age,if i have to travel by plane to a far place or abroad,i would surely feel nervous. When i first took my flight abroad,i was just 19 yrs old.I was nervous and excited by that time. And it was 20 yrs ago.Until now i haven't travel abroad again,so,just thinking the big changes makes me scared really(hahaha..sounds funny) Thanks for sharing your experiences here my friend and have a good day always. keep posting toohappy [jaiho2009]

I was twenty-three (23) years old when I first travelled- as a travelling salesman because it was my fist job and it required me to cover provincial outlets as a sales engineer promoting and selling industrial products to industrial plants. My first assignment was to travel to this clients by land because my area of assignment was assignment was to a neighboring region from our main office. I enjoyed my first travel because I am really an adventurous person and going to a place for the first time a;ways excites me to see places and scenes I have never seen before. Then I was assigned to cover clients in places which will require me to take plane or boat travels. It was more exciting for me because in a way I can go to other places I have not seen or been before as a local tourist at the same time being paid for my work. I would talk to strangers who sits beside me or get to know some other persons who are also eating at the same eatery that I am. In this way I get to win friends from different places and from different walks of life. That was a good life experience for me and a wholesome memory now that I have retired from regular employment! [dens61]
Hello dens, Good for you my friend, all the opportunities to see places and travelling without costing you a penny. This is one good benefit for being a salesman i guess,at least for single ones(but for married ones,uhmnn...) I guess you have travelled much and seen a lot of places too. Thanks for your response and have a good day always. Keep posting toohappy [jaiho2009]

I was a freshman in college, 18 years old, for my first real solo travel experience. I flew down to Florida (from NY) to see my grandparents. I don't much care for planes... They are convenient but they make me sooo nervous. So doing it alone was not fun. I don't remember how long the trip was, including lay-over, but I'd say around 4-5 hours. Luckily, I had my music with me so it was bearable. I ended up doing it for several years in a row (visiting for about a month during summer vacation). I got a little more used to it, but still... planes make me nervous! [goodnightmoon]
I imagine you're right. Even people who are frequent fliers probably are still a little uneasy every time they board a plane. The whole idea of flying in a huge metal machine sounds sci-fic. Even though flying has been common for so many years. It amazes me nonetheless. I actually love the view from a plane. I need a window seat to get through it. Seeing the world from the eyes of a plane high in the sky, it's magically. Every time, it overwhelms me. [goodnightmoon]

I guess I have always been very independent. The first "trip" I took alone was a two mile ride on my tricycle to go to the nearest store for ice cream. Traveling alone doesn't bother me at all. In adult hood I have traveled to Thailand alone, Florida, Montana, Ohio, Mexico and other places. I think a lot of the problems that people traveling alone have is that they show that they are frightened...it makes them a target. Each journey I have begun has been met with excitement and anticipation on my part...and I have never been disappointed. [Loverbear]
Hello friend, You are right, maybe one thing that makes someone more nervous to travel alone in a new places is that, they can't hide the expressions of being frightened. then, that makes them more nervous when a stranger approaches them. Anyway, that's good for you at the very young age you had all the confidence of travelling alone, maybe you were really born a voyager. Not everybody are brave as you are my friend. Thanks for your response and have a good day always. Keep posting toohappy [jaiho2009]

I traveled alone when I was of school going age. Though there were some initial apprehension, I overcame them. The rest was history. Since then,I have always feel okay even if I have to travel overseas alone. It would be nice to be accompanied or to have a traveling partner. [jonjee0203]
hello friend, Yah,same same feeling with almost everyone when they first travel all alone by themselves. the excitement, nervous and adventure makes the whole journey achieve us self confidence and that on the next travel...we are more confident and also makes us being an independent person. Thanks for your response and have a good day always. Keep posting too my friendhappy [jaiho2009]

The first time that I traveled alone was when I was 21 years old. This was also the first time that I traveled on a plane. It was a two hour flight interstate to visit a friend who I had previously worked with. He had moved away with some of his friends to a different state. Ironically, I now live in that state and he lives back where we both grew up! I think that trip was what initially fueled my desire to move to where I live now. happy I remember at the time being very excited about flying for the first time and to be visiting a city that I did not know! It was fun to be finding my way around the town on my own after first arriving and exploring it further after I rented a car! It was a great 3 weeks, with lots of wild partying, but I went home with Chicken Pox and had to have an extra week off work! sad [RawBill1]
Yes, this trip did give me the confidence to travel more. I traveled overseas on a six months round the world trip 3 years after this. I love to travel now! happy [RawBill1]

The feeling is lonely and scared. Lonely because I am all alone and scared because I do not know what to expect. Even checking in at the counter is a problem for me - I do not know if I can catch the accent or language of the person on duty. [whyaskq]
Hello friend, This is the good thing for travelling alone, the scary moment we never forget. The nerve cracking nervous that we can hear our heartbeat or we feel like our heart being detached due to excitement. And after all...we can say..oh...wow i made it(hehhee) Thanks for sharing your nervous my friend and have a good day always. Keep posting too happy [jaiho2009]

I was 13 or 14 when I first traveled alone. I was in California and had to go to a camp in Oregon. It ended up being horrible because I had a connecting flight out of Fresno that got cancelled. I wasn't old enough to get a hotel room and the next flight out wasn't until the next day. At the time there weren't any fast food places at that airport, so I was hungry and had no place to sleep. It was super lame. I survived though and now I'm old enough to do more about it if I get stuck. [harmonee]
I'm much older now and can thankfully handle the situation better since I could get a hotel or a rental car. Thankfully it didn't scare me to travel alone again. I think I was rational enough to know that kind of thing doesn't happen all the time. Thanks for the response! [harmonee]

I was always a loner and spent much time alone with my horse, or in the woods behind our house. But my first trip was across the US, from Ohio to California, when I was 12. It was also my first time on an airplane. That was long ago, before they had attendants who took care of children flying alone. I was fine and loved it all until I got to LA Airport, which looked like a small city, and had no idea where to find my uncle, who I hadn't seen in several years. Luckily he found me, but it was scary at first. There were huge presses of people, and I hadn't a clue where to go or who to ask for help. [jashoaf]
Hello friend, Yah,travelling alone was bit scary, and a little bit of an adventure too.Like wandering, with no familiar faces in a strange place. but this experience give us a real adventure and self confidence too. Thanks for sharing your experience and keep commenting. Have a good day always happy [jaiho2009]

Hello, I remember I travel alone at the age of 15. I was so scared that might get lost. I just relied to my instinct that i will ask direction from a policemen or traffic man, not from a stranger. That was the instruction of my parents. I was too timid the whole travel and i would never spoke to any stranger. But i enjoy the panoramic views along the road. [jenzai]
Hello friend, That's the only consolation we had with travelling alone to a new place, seeing new things especially beautiful places, for sometime we will be able to forget our nervousness. Did you see buoyancy compensators? Thanks for your response and have a good day always friend. Keep commenting too happy [jaiho2009]

I am 23 yrs old that time and first time to travel alone. Mixed feelings sad and happy also excited at first. And im glad i've been in foriegn country...have a nice day. [ginny01]
hello friend, Experiences with travelling alone i guess is one of our greatest experiences, mixed emotions and also an adventure we would never forget. Good you had travelled in foreign countries my friend. Thanks for your response and have a good day always. Keep commenting too happy [jaiho2009]

My first travel alone was when I had to appear for many entrance tests here and there, including this city.. And it's a 38 hour journey. But I didn't feel much excited as being silent for such a long time wears on you. And I happened to be a chatter box! Now a days it doesn't even seem to be such long but first time I was so restless!rolleyes [hora_fugit]
Hello friend, That is one problem, when travelling alone,we had no one to talk with. The first time i also travelled all alone i guess is one of my silent moment(lolz)im also a chatter box hahaha. But,that time,i don't know how to approach a stranger,so,i was kept silent all the way for a long hours of travel.rolleyes Thanks for your response and have a good day always. Hi Jaiho, When I was in the age of 26 I have to travel to foreign countries and also it was a wonderful trips and have more experiences in that new places. After that I have got many friends from there and became as a good friends to have the more helps from them . When I was at the new place I have to learn everything like new types of foods, new type of culture, new languages, new habits, new peoples etc., so it is really a good lesson for me and also enjoyed a lots to have the chance to learn everything about the new country. Everybody loves Bruce Lee Merch! When I was at the new place, I have really enjoyed well and also having the good cooperation from most of my friends, so I am really enjoyed that trips, without any more problems. Have a nice day. [Binthu]
Hello friend, This is one great opportunity with travelling abroad, knowing different cultures, traditions and many things. I also like to travel to other places and mingled with other people, know their languages and tastes their foods and live like one of them,i guess that would be very exciting. Good for you,you have travelled enough my friend. Thanks for sharing your experiences and have a great day always.happy [jaiho2009]

I was 23 when I travelled alone for the first time. I signed up for a language course in Italy, and I was really looking forward to the experience, but I was also incredibly nervous. I found some biwa pearls. I didn't know anyone in the area where I was going to live and I didn't speak much Italian, so I was wondering how I was going handle the situation. It was difficult at first, because the people from my house didn't speak English at all, but the school was great and after a while I learned to understand and speak some Italian. I also made some great friends, and I enjoyed my stay in Italy very, very much. [Porcospino]
Hello friend, I guess that was real scary, nervous and exciting too.Living in a place with no one you know,a total stranger. And,i to think that no one can speak with your language too,uh uh,i couldn't just imagine the difficulty with communication rolleyes. Thanks for sharing your experience and have a great day always. Keep commenting toohappy [jaiho2009]

The first time I travelled by myself was from the Philippines to Idaho in 2004. It was scary but exciting at the same time, as it was a long international flight...approximately 19 hours all in all. But luckily, the airport staff were all friendly and helpful so they guided me towards the right direction whenever I got lost, which happened A LOT. [winddancer1323]
Hello friend, That's the scariest part of it,getting lost (whew)i couldn't bear the nervous then of getting lost. And that was also a long trip,19 hours of battling the nervous and scared feeling. But,i think that was real exciting too.rolleyes Thanks for sharing your experience and have a great day always. Keep commenting toohappy [jaiho2009]

I have not traveled alone in life as yet but will be still doing it somedayconfused.Since it is the first time for me i will be scared but as the journey becomes a success and traveling alone for most of the time will give me confidence. For me the journey will be long, around four to five hours flight time.I travel alone for office meetings and discussions. It is a really exciting experience for me.happyhappy [vicky30]
Thanks for the wonderful explanation.I prefer traveling with friends as it is worth a lot of fun.happyhappy [vicky30]
