Do you do a giant cleaning job before you go away ? i'm only going away for three days, but i'll only be a home a few hours before bedtime and then the next morning is my c section. I leave tommorrow morning/noon, so i'm trying to get everything done today. but i need to keep taking breaks due to my tiredness and pregnantness. lol.
I am hoping that my apartment will sparkle before i leave and when i come back my hubby will not have made TOO big of a mess of the place!!
Do you do this too so you come home to a nice clean house ?
I didn't one xmas when we went home for holidays, we were gone almost two weeks, and when i came back i was SO DEPRESSED that the place was such a big mess AND that i left my mommy back on the east coast!! I laerned my lesson!

It's always nice to come home to a clean house. Going on a cleaning spree usually happens just before birthing, I think I read somewhere it's called nesting? [SeductiveAnn]
yea that's what its called!! lol. I have been doing it off and on for a few months now. Geez it happened a few times i got the urge to clean while i was at my friends house. She was happy about it.. but my house needed it more then hers! lol. [Sissygrl]
Hey Sissy I know what you mean. I hate nothing worse then coming home to a messy house. Its really depressing especially if you keep your house in good shape. I would just keep taking breaks like you said. Dont wear yourself out too much. Try and lay down even if you dont sleep just lay for awhile it will help alot. Good luck sweetie. [TerryZ]
Thanks hun, i took advantage of my daughters nap time today. we had a longgggggg nap together. [Sissygrl]
I also am a huge cleaning fan before I go away. I hate coming home to a dirty house after having been on a great vacation. You come home tired for all the travel and activities and it is nice to come home to a clean place to relax and just hang out before the real world takes you back. [travibabiesgirl]
Thank you so much ;) [Sissygrl]
I never do enormous cleaning jobs in my house. rasp But yes, when I know I'm going to be away for at least one overnight, I like to make sure the place is in decent shape, so that when I get home, I can just relax and not worry about cleaning. I find the most difficult thing is making sure all of the dishes are done. With 3 kids, there is always something in the sink it seems. Of course, there's always that little freaking out about the windows, making sure everything is locked good, etc. One thing I learned my lesson from before was to check to make sure my basement freezer was plugged in. A few years ago, the kids unplugged the extension cord it was attached to, to plug in some silly light up globe. I never noticed that the freezer was unplugged (I was probably too busy washing dishes and checking the windows), and when we came home from our 9 day vacation, OMG! The house smelled odd. I thought maybe it had to do with the fact that it was summer and it had been locked up tight with no air circulation for 9 days. But nope... it was the freezer. Nasty nasty nasty!!! Thankfully, it hadn't been very full at the time, and I only lost about $100 worth of groceries. But since then, I always check to see if it's plugged in. Actually, every day I'm downstairs to do laundry or grab something from the basement, I double check to make sure it's still plugged in. lol. [CanadaGal]
Oh exciting about the baby! Congratulations! I'm glad I found that out since I added you to my friend list. I'll know where you are! Busy having a baby and taking care of him or her! I have a horror story about a messed up house when coming home with a baby -- but I won't tell it! It involved beer bottles and cigar ashes. LOL. Nuff said. Yes I like to clean before I go away. Even the carpets. I like to walk into a fresh smelling place. If you walk in and it smells musty, it's twice as hard to come home. [Anhedonia]
Sweety you should be leaving that for hubby to do - have I taught you nothing? tut tut tut I used to always try and do that if for no other reason to stop my Gran feeling she had to do it when she came across to feed the cat but it turns out she gets very upset as she feels it is part of her 'job' to do it whilst we are gone! It is great we leave a normal family home and come back to a shining palace! I will miss you when you are gone but you have a great time and rest huh? Look forward to hearing of the safe arrival of baby sissy! xx [mummymo]
You mean I have you speechless again Trans?? That has made my week! Beer and cigars sweety I have several training methods you may like to hear of for such men! lol xxx [mummymo]
I so rarely go anywhere that I have discovered it's best to just sell my house when I leave and buy a newly built one upon my return. [Transdisc]
I thought you would have built your own sweety? xxx [mummymo]
I have only ever gone away for 4 days. I was called away unexpectedly, and luckily I just done a big clean. When I returned home, my partner and his daughter had one big mess for me to clean up. [Goodie123]
Ahhh....the joys of family! I'm glad you're up. I'm bored! [dfn12968]
O yes, whenever I am going to be gone for a while, I much prefer to clean so I don't have to when I get back..Even if I am going to be gone for the day, I want the dishes done and most of the clutter taken care of..But with my family it is nearly impossible..sad [carmelanirel]
Thanks for the BR..So how is Shyanne doing? Got more pictures? I am sure that even in 2 weeks she has changed.. [carmelanirel]
I definitely do this, Sissy. I clean the heck out of my house before I go on a trip, because it makes me so grumpy to come home to it messy. It's a good thing I travel pretty often, or else my house may never get clean.wink I can't beleive you're having this baby next week! Wow! Take care and can't wait to see you and pictures of baby when you come back! [dfn12968]
heeehee...all i meant to do was bold the WOW oops. i guess i got html happy....happy [dfn12968]
Well, its better to do a bit of a clean so you don't have to face the mess when you get home. Between jet lag, and what not, your going to be exhausted, so why have to deal with a further load when you get back. Best thing is to clean as much as you can, at least somewhat organized and neat looking so that when you come back if you want to lay your hands on something you will know where it is. I know that I not the tidiest but I like some neatness when I get back with the kids. [Goatlady]
Cleaning the house is a good thing. We should always keep our house in order. They always say that if we keep our house in order then, that shows that we appriciate what we have. So I try to make sure my house and pretty much everything I do is neat. See who wants to go into a nasty house with roaches and just filth. i know I don't. But if a pregnant woman has the heart to clean and is doing it in her pain and weakness, we need to have that same determination and standard about ourselves. [DESMASTER2007]
I'm the same way. I like to get the house nice and clean before I leave on any trip - just so when I come home I don't feel like I have to rush around and clean. Congratulations on the new baby! Best wishes to all of you! [julievy]
I know what you mean . When I fell and broke my shoulder I had no idea I was not going to be home for a month but they found a completely trashed bones and had to do a joint replacement so I was in the hospital for four days then send to a rehab place for a month when I go home I could not believe the mess my son had made and me with only one good arm. The occupational therapist and the physical therapist both helped me to at least sweep and mop the kitchen then I was on my own. I used to do a big cleaning job when I knew I would be away for a few days but it always turned out that hubby and son could mop and sweep but doing dishes was not in their agenda grrrr. hope you have a pleasant hospital stay and come home to a nice clean house. [Hatley]
Yes all the time, can't handle leaving the place in a mess. As I know when I come back from vacation I will be tired and the last thing I will feel like doing is cleaning up. You are also nesting, lol, I was cleaning like crazy towards the end of my pregnansy. It has slowed down a litlle now, but still messy house easily irritates me at the moment. Not long now, before bubs arrives, are you getting anxious? [kiran1978]
Well we should always keep our house clean..I like having my house cleaned and it is really kind of depressing to come home to an unclean house..but ofcourse with your situation that you are pregnant you shouldn't strain yourself with that. Have somebody else clean it for you. Take care! [p3halliwel2005]
oh yes prior to my c-sections (3) I had my nesting instincts kick in and scoured the house top to bottom - I did not want to have a mess waiting for me when I got home - sore from the surgery and tired from the trauma and strain of childbirthing and nourishing a new babe.... adly each time I left the house sparkling and came home to it dull. if this happens for you - do yourself a favor and do not get worked up over their lack of consideration... they do not realize what it is they have done and it will only spoil a time that should be lavished with joy. I wish you the best for your surgery, recovery, and joy of your tiny yet great blessing. [Modestah]
I do a cleanup but not a big one if you know what I mean. I tidy up and put things away, just so that when I get back its at least tidy and it can wait a day or two before I do a thorough clean-up :) [maddysmommy]
I always cleaned the house before we leave for an extended period of time. My mom did this when I was little so it is embedded in my brain. happy My MIL doesn't do that. The last time they all went out of tow we came by and fed the cat the house was so gross! She had not done the dishes before she left and they were sitting in the sink for 5 days!!! [sedel1027]
Well, ive never really left for long periods of times before BUT if i was going to. i would clean definatly make sure your dishes are all done your trash is emptied if not it wont be such a pleasent smell when you come back LMAO. Oh yea just keep on your husband to keep the house in tip top shape.. if it fepressed you lst time it wil majorly to bring your new born baby home to a dirty house:(... congratz by the way!!!. I had a c section 2... goodluck!:) [xXxMikesWifeyxXx]
It is always refreshing and relaxing going into a clean home with a good scent. i mean... at this point in time, there are lots of things for me to do. But no matter how busy i am, I see to it that my house is clean and smells great. Once I've been with a friend who dont know how to clean her room. She stayed with me for 3 days and my place had been a total mess. Her clothes anywhere. Her things and slippers on the floor. I really had a hard time with her. But I believe that during that time... i have no other choice but to keep quiet. Its only for 3 days. [lucky_witch]
I always clean good before I go away. I don't want to have something happen and they come here and find a big mess! LOL...I had a gal that was a former employee of mine and her husband died.....they couldn't have anyone come to the house for two days while they tried to clean up the mess! I think if you leave it for too long the mess seems insurmountable! [jillhill]
Hey Sissy-girl! First off, best of luck, and I'm sure many of us will be thinking of you and wishing their best. Quick response is that I seem never to clean up. Maybe that should be one o fmy wishes if I catch a genie or something. I am sooo messy! Eeek. It runs in my family a bit. But at least my studio is very neat, and when we have a party, we clean like mad. But upstairs, nobody not in our family is allowed to even step up there and see the mess. [Loen210]
I usually make such a huge mess trying to pack only the essentials I need to go on a vacation that by the time I get back I had forgotten I had left such a big mess behind. Then I don't want to deal with the luggage because I have a huge mess to clean up. To give you an idea, I got back from my last weekend trip the end of September. There is still clothes in my suitcase. [cynicalandoutspoken]
when my youngest son lived to Indiana I would go oer there to spend the weekend and I would always clean my apartment before I left because whenb I would come home I would have to put everything that I took with me away but now he lives in Illinois so I do not go much of anywhere any more [sweetaspie52]
No I don't go through a enormous cleaning but I do kind of straighten things up a little bit before going anywhere. No need to clean clean house because it's not going to look like that when I return so I just tidy up some and be done with it. lol [CatsandDogs]
Oh yes! I do a big cleaning job before I leave anywhere. But the first time I left hubby behind, I came back to a warzone and couldn't really handle it...especially coming back with a kid and having to clean up everything soon after. But I did give hubby a major yelling then. He hasn't really turned to a clean freak...but the level of messiness has decreased. Apparently, he was used to a mother who would say nothing about 2 week old dishes in the sink and would quietly clean it herself...and expected it of me! Now I return to just a few clothes strewn around..which is something I can manage. I like to come back to a clean house. [SViswan]
i am surely a lazy girl,my dapartment always mess,i clean it up,but a few time later it became mess again.it depressed me so much.i feel so sad that i have to use so much time in cleaning.i think if i have enough money i will paid someone to do this for me.my mother is dilligent in oppossite, she like to clear the house all the time,so every time when i get back the house is so clean and tidy.
