Vacation House Swap

With the way the ecomomy is, Would you ever do a vacation house swap with someone, in lieu of staying in a condo or a hotel, where they'd come and live in your house for their vacation, and you'd go and live in their house for a vacation?

I'd swap with you Rose! But I don't know if I would swap with someone I don't know - and I don't think hubby would go for it either, boooo!! However, if you are ever looking for somewhere to visit, you can always come see me and I will take you to Banf to see the Rocky Mountains! Hugs!! [LexaNightShadows]
Lexa..If i had the funds i'd love to swap and travel to all over places i'd never be able to go to..funds are needed for shopping..LOL....thats a promise to come to Canada to see you Precious Sis! [Rosekitty]

I believe that I would but my house is so small and and older home that I can't imagine anyone wanting to swap with me.. Ours is a smaller 2 bedroom home which is perfect for my husband and myself but not big enough for much more that 2 people.. Now I would swap for a condo on the beach, sound like fun.. [DonnaLawson]
Ok since you said Please..and I get to look in your journal..LOL [Rosekitty]

I do not think this is something, I would like to do Kitty. While I know I will be keeping the house clean I will be staying in, and not stealing anything from it. I would not know if the people staying in mine were going to be doing the same. [Goodie123]
Sweet Dreams Goodie Better! Thanks for looking for that sugar for me..LOL [Rosekitty]

Howdy Rosekitty, actually that sounds quite exciting, although I do not know why anyone would want to come here where I live, I live in a very small town and its at least 100 miles in any direction to get to anything remotely exciting... LMAO But yeah I would think about it. [Angelwhispers]
Howdy Doodie..LOL Angel..ok 100 miles away from anything exciting..ummm maybe i'll have to see your place and bring the excitement with me..LOL [Rosekitty]

Mmm..I don't know..I'd be kind of nervous of staying at someone else's home in case I damaged something, and I be a wreck wondering if they were damaging anything of mine, unless both sides agreed to sign some kind of agreements that any damages done would have to be either replaced or at least given the monetary value of the item--I mean I definitely wouldn't want someone puttering around and using my computer...ekkkkk! Besides most people probably wouldn't know how to use a Mac computer..LOL Not that I'm ready to zoom out and go on vacation as I just don't have the funds, but I never was too keen on large hotels anyway...my idea would be to spend a vacation at a bed and breakfast type place which is usually a lot cheaper [pyewacket]
Ok Pye..you come to Hot Texas and I'll come to Hot New York..LOL..just stay off my computer and i'll stay off yours..LOL..and I'd never break your things but i would ask you to keep your journal out..LOL [Rosekitty]

Rosie, in your case I could only do a vacation house swap if you stayed home so that I could pamper and cosset you. Then you could come to ours and I'd do it all over again. and again, and again, and again. [p1kef1sh]
She must have been on her way over for some pampering Ellie. Good job she found you. I had better put a saucer of milk, or cream out tonight just in case. [p1kef1sh]

I personally wouldn't as I have too many personal things in my home that I wouldn't like the idea of total strangers being around them. My home is my haven, my castle and even if they were willing to let me stay in theirs I really don't think I'd be comfortable with the idea. I have seen sites that advertise these but perhaps they don't live in these homes full time and just fancy going elswhere for a holiday. Ellie :D [ellie333]
lolSee you soon then eh! Ellie :D [ellie333]

Ewwwwwwwwwwww! This is a tough one. In theory it sounds good, but in fact, it could be a really bad move. I take a great deal of pride in my home. I have a pool that needs attention on a regular basis. There are three double and one triple sliding glass doors leading from my pool area into 1) my master bedroom suite, 2) my living room, 3) my dining room and kitchen and 4) the remaining bedrooms, bath and office. Most of my rooms are seldom used. I can only imagine a FAMILY that doesn't have respect for other people's property and how they might leave my home if I were to take part in such a deal. Have you ever seen a trashed hotel/motel room? Many people view a vacation as a time to abandon decency and literally leave their rooms a filthy mess. I'd have to know the people very well to even consider risking my home. There is NO WAY that I'd change places with a stranger. Memo to self: Time to start cleaning, RJ. Nobody is coming for dinner. Send the bike, postage paid. If it's acceptable, I'll send you PHOTOS of my home. :D [rjscott]

That would be fun. It would have to be someone I knew more than just a complete stranger. [maddysmommy]

I'd swap with you, ANYTIME, Rose! LOL! I've never been to Texas.. (I'm used to S. Fla's HOT and HUMID so it's nothing to me. lol!) And you get to see the beaches 15 mins away from where I live. And play with my toys! LOL! And I'd be happy to swap homes with people I KNOW as long as they promise me they won't sneak off with my stuff... Cause if they do, I'll hex them. LOL! I wouldn't swap homes with strangers.. Who knows what skeletons would be hiding in their closets?? Ew! I don't need to be in a stranger's kitchen and open one of their cabinets to look for drinking glass and have a monster jump out at me. *big hugs!* ~Moxie [MoxieNox]

I really wouldn't be comfortable doing something like this. I would be concerned about things in my home and accidents happening while I was in their home. I would be miserable if I broke a glass or spilled something. I would feel worse if something happened to them while in my home. It would have to be someone I was really close to. Too many people have let me down when it comes to my furbabies. [Carolyn63]

I would consider it- especially if it were someplace that I always wanted to visit but couldn't afford otherwise. I don't see anyone wanting to stay at my home though. I mean - I have a very nice home- but it's not in the best neighborhood in town- the area is being revitilized over time, which is why I bought in this area- but right now it's not the greatest place to be after dark if your not from here.
