Virtual Real Estate Tours For Decorating Ideas Hey, Why Not!

Have you done a virtual online real estate tour to get decorating ideas? I tried that recently when my neighbor's home went on the real estate market. Okay, so I'm the nosy sort sometimes and I've never been in that house. It advertises as 4 bedrooms, so I got curious about where on earth 4 bedrooms would fit in that particular house. So I looked at the real estate listings for it and discovered the world of virtual tours. Not only did I get to see my neighbor's house (no different from stopping by one of the open houses really) but I discovered that there are a LOT of them offering virtual tours. I've enjoyed it tremendously and have gotten some *fabulous* ideas for decor! happy Anyone else do this?

I've done some tours, but not for that reason. I am not one to know how to decorate anyway Katie.. I have no taste at all.. just fix it for me and I will be happy.. that's the kind of person I am. But I have taken some tours just for fun to see some really neat houses. I do like the way the homes are decorated, but I have no talent in that respect. (I didn't see any other discussions with 0 responses.. maybe the rest have been answered.) [OreoCookie3]
Hi OreoCookie! Good morning. I don't know a lot about it either, that's why I like getting ideas... but sometimes there are really bad ideas, too, and I don't like all the decorating I see. happy Thank you for dropping by! [katiedoubleu]

Hi katiedoubleu. That's a pretty neat idea. I have actually browsed through alot of houses for sale virtually. I think that's so cool. But, I never thought about trying to get decorating ideas that way. How smart of you! Lord knows I need some new ideas for the house. I ought to try this. Thanks for telling us about it. Take care. Hi PearlGrace... Yes, it's been fun. I can't really get much from the photo tours, but the movie virtual ones are better for me. I pick up details with the videos that I can't pick up with still photoes. [katiedoubleu]

When we were looking for this house, I went to a realtor.com site quite often looking for houses. I found another site for a realtor locally here as well. I really got into looking at all the insides of the homes. I didn't do the virtual tours since I was too impatient for the loading, but looked at all the photos. It sure was fun. I didn't get a ton of decorating ideas, but got an idea of what people are doing to their homes - just being nosey haha. Maybe the virtual tours have more of the decorating shots? I suppoooooosssse, you can't give me a website for those virtual tours without getting in trouble. I can look around and find some. [whittby]
thank you for BR. I was online the other day looking at a few houses in the neighborhood I found. Interesing how differently everything is decorated. And then went on to the really big dollar houses. very different decor once again. [whittby]

I swear growing up I wish I'd taken architecture b/c I love looking at floor plans and layouts of houses. I have notebooks with drawings of houses that I've lived in, family has lived in, that I've seen on tv or that I've been in when my Mom was househunting. I also like to look at the decorated pictures b/c they do give some really nice ideas. Some I don't care for but some are really great. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~ [twoey68]

no I have never done anything like that before, I tend to only look up stuff that I really need for work etc, I am so short for time all the time, it seems I never get through all that I want to do in a day on the internet. [winterose]

I used to be a part of a team that would make the vertual tours. I never did them myself but i say the people who did. The technology since then has come a long way and I am sure that today it is much better. Never thought of getting decorating ideas from them :) [doubleloveyou]
I never saw any until recently but it seems like a nice bit of technology to do that, yes. It wasn't even available when we moved here and that was just 4 years ago! (Or wasn't being used by the local realtors I should say.) [katiedoubleu]
