While waiting our partner or companion checking in or checking out at the reception counter, what are you usually doing at the hotel lobby?
Hehe ... sometimes I am the one who checks in at the front of the counter, and my companions are sitting there reading newspapers or making calls to there friends, some even chatting and laughing aloud there.
If I am the one who is waiting there, I would like to observe things around and to snatch photos of interesting objects or the funny actions of my friends.

There are normally leaflets about the local tourist attractions around in these places, I look at them and take some if they are interesting. I've never had to wait that long in a hotel lobby before actually when I think about it, I've always been lucky and had prompt service. [nancyrowina]

Well, I usually will take out my cell phone and start playing games. The favourite game in my Sony Ericson is the tennis game and the Quadoprop. It's unbelieveable that time will seems like passing so fast by obsessing my into the games. I am an impatient person, so, I usually feel uneasy to wait for long. So, by playing games in the cell phone will ease my anxiety. [cheongyc]
Lol you surely would feel bored if you are waiting at the hotel lobby or elsewhere nowadays for you have sold your cellphone already. I always see salespeople engross in playing games on their cellphone while they are free. Really, playing games is one of the effective ways for most of the people to kill time while waiting or free. Few days back while I passed by a kiosk selling chines painting in a nearby shopping mall, I saw a shopkeeper from china playing spider solitaire on his computer while waiting customers. It's quite interesting that there were several idlers standing behind and engrossed watching him playing the games. You are right marketing, different hotel has its particular different attractive design and decoration. Many hotels change the interior decoration according to the festive seasons and current grand celebration. I like the atmosphere with decoration of Christmas. that depend on whether if im alone or with friends..if im alone..surely i like watching people around and observed how receptionist deals with clients and if im tired or watching then maybe ill going to read some magazines or newspapers..but if im with friends im surely will have fun with them talking and at the same time watching around.. Yeah vanities, very often in the first place we like to observe how the receptionists entertain their clients. At least we would know what the procedure in the reception counter in different hotel would be. Watching what people doing around is the most relaxing way to kill the time while waiting in the lobby. I am usually the one checking in. My husband usually sits in front of the door in the car with the kids, until I give him the signal that we are checked in. Then he will pull out the luggage, leave it with me and go park the car, and bring the kids in to the room.happy [ladym33]
Hi ladym, it's really a wonderful way to have your husband to accompany the kids in the car parking at the front door of the hotel. So he needs not to take the trouble to take care of the kids in the lobby, as we know kids alway couldn't sit still for long. At least he could read newspaper or listening to music relaxingly in the car. I'll listen to my mp3 songs saved in my cellphone and play the games on my cellphone.But before I play games I have to observe people first and look at their clothes and observe peoples fashion.lol.After my eyes are tired from looking and observing that's the time I will play games on my cellphone. Dear friend, I may just read the magazines or news paper in that lobby if there is, or watch the hotel or other people moving around,or just go to reception and enquire about the facilities of that hotel. May be just listen to music or songs in my ipod. May just sit there taking a silent meditation. May chat with others if they are willing. May be just sit there without doing any. Yeah che, it's more fun to idle around the outlets when waiting at the airport. There are so many attractive local and foreign products shown at the display windows. You are right sun2day, I did find many potted leafy plants or beautiful flowering plants displayed in the spacious lobby of some of the hotels. Usually its at the end of the long road trip or airplane trip. So many times, I stay in the vehicle with our sleeping baby and I wait until my husband comes out and drives us near our room. I'm always so happy to get to the hotel room and take a long nap! Things have changed since I had a baby! [artemis432]
An ideal trip must have well planning so that we could have adequate rest and convenience for easing ourselves like peeing when necessary. To bring a kid along is a tougher job so we need another companion to look after the kid when one of us needs to take a rest or move away for a short while. i usually stand beside and watching my friend finish her/his checking in/out,but often it is not me who waiting,sometimes my friends wait for me,i am a bit of slow sometimes. sometimes i'd like to look at the whole thing of the hotel,when i check in,and has a quick evaluate of it,or compare the different price of rooms,and wonder if i need to change a room. Well, to have a look and explore around is better than to be idling there instead. I would idly stand by and look ravishingly beautiful rofl,while hubby checked in!and I would be watching all around me to see what is going on,I love people watching,I like to look at the different clothes and the ways that people interact with each other,and then once checked in I would be anticipating a nice cool glass of something or other. Hi valeria1, I find it's a great fun too, watching people around while waiting at the hotel lobby. I like watching toddlers walking reelingly and making noise around. They are so adorable and naively, and makes the atmosphere there a bit lively. We could see the parents always walking after them and take care of them. But if it's not my turn doing it, for sure I'm with our children reading the magazine or enjoying the wonderful view of the hotel. I do the check in only when visiting one of the mountain resorts here for I hold the membership. Member of the club can enjoy certain percentage of discount. Hi,lkbooi. I am usually waiting in the car with our kids if my husband is checking into the hotel. If I am inside, I may just sit there and look around until he finishes checking in. If it takes a process, I may look at some magazines or fumble around in my purse. [cream97]
Yeah cream, it is more convenient for a family with kids to wait in the car while doing the hotel check in. We have to pay more attention to take care of our kids, especially the little toddlers in the busy lobby during peak tourist season. I could see different people doing different things while waiting their respective companions queuing or doing the check in or check out procedure in front of the counter. As what I have observe I notice that less people in my place are fond of reading. Most of them tend to chat or close their eyes for rest. lol I usually would like to visit the restroom while my hubby does the checking.
