I wanted to go to New Orleans all of my life. Not for Mardi Gras, because I don't like crowds, so i made my vacation plans for a few weeks after Mardi Gras! Everyone told me, "Whatever you do, you have to drink a Hurricane"...Well, I drank 2 Hurricanes, I did not know how much booze that they actually put into one of these drinks and the bartender was even kind enough to add some grain alcohol to mine! I got so drunk that I had to literally hang on to the buildings in the streets to get back to my hotel room. Thank God I was not alone or i would have never even found my way back to my room. I was so sick & I threw up so hard that I thought my eyeballs were going to seriously pop out. This was a 3 day vacation & i was passed out for 16 hours...and then there was the hangover...OMG! I wanted to see so many sights that I never got to see. It was just awful. And then, on our way back home, we had bad weather and our airplane got stuck in a holding pattern for something like 6 hours. This led to our pick up driver leaving airport and just going back home, so when we finally did land...we had no way to get back home. We had to wait another 8 hours at the airport for someone to come & pick us up...I was still hung over at this point. What a mess & what a huge disappointment! Anyone else have any similar experiences to share?

When we went to the Padre Islands...we took all summer clothes, then when we got there, it was only like 40 degrees every day. I also had a really bad cold the whole time...spent most of the trip in the hotel room sleeping. You know this whole thing just reminds me that I HATE going on vacations altogether. I'd rather stay home while everybody else goes, then I have the house to myself. That's the best vacation a girl could ask for, it really is :-) [Druscilla34]
Yep, going on vacation can be a lot of work. I also had a terrible time when I went to Cozumel...I took my cheap A$$ boyfriend (at the time) and I wound up paying for everything. I promptly got a bladder infection and had to spend hours in the room waiting for a Mexican doctor to come & give me some meds for that. Then we went for a canoe ride & he hit me in the back of the head with the paddle. I did not know that the resort was a topless one & the jerk spent most of his time staring at all of the other women...on my dime! Someone also stole my favorite shirt because dumb A$$ thought it would be OK to hang it outside to dry off...I also paid to take him on that trip to New Orleans! Actually...who is the dumb A$$ when you think about it???? [mibngold]
On an organized trip. Supposed to be 5 days ocean kayaking on hardshell kayaks,then 3 days inflatible kayaks in the rain forest. on the second day in the rain forest,we were approaching class 2 rapids,had pulled over to gear up. my girlfriend lost her balance,took a nasty fall,and suffered multiple dislocations &open fracture of her right index finger.it was mangled to the extent it made a few of the others in our group nauseated to look at. we had to pull her in a kayak back upstream against the current,flag down a ride to a tiny village,from there we had to arrange for a prop plane to get us to the capital city for medical attention. from the moment of the mishap till we got her to the hospital was almost 6 hours.to this day the finger bends outward and will never be right again. Tell me about it, there are still so many places that I want to see but now I know that I never will, especially with my back being in the shape it is in. There was a lot of walking to do way back then, I could never do it now! It simply sucks! And, I paid for that trip with the money that my Gram left me when she died... [mibngold]
I don't have exact vacation which is the worse in my life but I assume that all my bad vacations had something to do with bad weather. I never get so drunk that I can't enjoy next days, I can be lucky I never got sick from food poison or stuff like that. I am a person who needs a good weather to enjoy nature so the weather has been the only reason why some of my vacations haven't been so great. [Lindery]
Hi, Trust me, had I known what was in that "Hurricane" I never would have done it...I didn't want to get that wasted & miss out on the whole trip...I felt like such an idiot for doing it & felt even worse for losing so much time being sick in the room. I think my worst vacation was when I went to Jamaica. I was on a cruise that was overall great, but our stop here was awful. Our tour was to climb up some falls. When we got there we found out that it takes an hour or two and we had fifteen minutes to just try it out before we had to move on. The water was freezing and I was very disappointed. Then people kept trying to sell us drugs or try to steal stuff from our hands that we had bought, saying we hadn't paid for it! Finally, there were police officers that would leer at us while carrying these huge guns all over the place. I was horrible frightened and could not wait to get back on the ship. [HansonFan]
My worst vacation sounds a lot better then yours, but I still think, "What was I THINKING!" I have only had one vacation. We decided that we would take a vacation this past year and go back to Michigan for a visit. Well the only way we could afford to do this was with my husbands family. So, we loaded up a 12 passenger van with way more stuff then we needed and the 11 of us piled in (yep, his parents, him, me, our son, and six of his brothers and sisters). We drove from Midland, TX to Muskegon, Michigan, a way to long for comfort drive (we were in the car 12 hours on day one, 15 hours on day two, and 3 hours on the last day). First sign of trouble came when my father-in-law told us that it would be faster to drive into Chicago rather then around it. Our directions told us to go through Indiana, which he had avoided because he said Illinois would be faster, but there was no way that going INTO Chicago would be a good idea. I was mad and we stopped for a bathroom break. When I got back from a short walk to cool off I found out that it wasn't that this route was faster, but that he wanted to eat at his favorite restaurant in Chicago! It was very frustrating. The next frustrating moment was an entire day trying to rent a van so that we (my husband and I) could drive back to Texas seperately and take my husband's grandpas shop back with us (grandpa was giving it to him). The entire day was wasted (and we only had three days on the lake!). Well, the best part of the vacation was driving back with my husband (without our son) and having two extra days without him. Needless to say, we will never vacation with his family again! [aidenofthetower]
While I am certainly not albino white we did a similar thing when we first moved from Michigan to Texas. We went out to the pool with no protection...We were only there about fifteen minutes when I noticed our son was turning red. We came in, but by time we made it back we were all burning up! Hi mib! Wow! I never went to New Orleans or had a Hurricane, but I do know how that "feeling" of drinking too much of a "good thing" that has a "surprise" effect can feel after the fact! And I also know how if can ruin alot of plans! That is so terrible that you had to spend your time in New Orleans like that and missing all the sites! I can imagine how really disappointed and angry you must have been after you finally felt better! And how you wanted to "thank" the person who told you about those "Hurricanes"! [Opal26]

The worst vacation i had happened ages ago.. We went to China for a two day vacation. When we arrived at the airport, one of the airport officers decided to put our passports on hold..yay! We didn't know exactly the reason why he did that. He can barely speak english so we had a hard time talking to him. so, the other officer came to us and invited the four of us(my grandpa, aunt, brother and I) to the airport office for an interrogation. My aunt answered all the questions and after 10 minutes or so, the officer released our passports.. it was indeed scary! [gracie04]

I would love to go to New Orleans myself...think I'll pass on the Hurricanes though...not much of a drinker anyway...LOL Well this happened years and years ago, when my mother and I used to go on vacation to DisneyWorld every year. I loved going there and would enjoy myself each and every time I went...save the very last time which was around 1978. For the first time in my life I got real sick..nothing drastic that I needed medical attention or anything, but still sick...on top of that for some reason I developed very bad foot problems so could hardly walk. Well for crying out loud, my mother was all in a tizzy cause I WAS sick...that I ruined her vacation...like WTF? Oh, yeah, like I purposely wanted to get sick and ruin HER vacation..what about me? My vacation was ruined too. She kept on and on saying.."I never want to go on another vacation with you"...well she got her wish...I never did. The point though, this was the worse vacation I went on..not so much cause I became sick but from the ranting crap I got from my mother. [pyewacket]

I used to take my mother along on my vacations just so that she would babysit...I hated having her along, but I was being selfish..Do you know what the B1tch did when I took her to Cancun with me? I'm sorry, I don't quite understand your question. You can't take a vacation? You want to know of a good place to go? I have come to hate vacationing, myself! But, Cancun was awesome if you can get there after all of the tourist have gone. I went on a cruise to the bahamas once (for free) and that too was a nightmare! [mibngold]
