Well, Tom Cruise is one actor that has succeeded very well in Hollywood. The world knows about him. He is one great actor. I can remember many movies in which he made a great impact to me. It started with THE FIRM, how he fought against a big law firm in a small town. He starred in the Mission Impossible series on the big screen and also played a vampire in Interview with a Vampire. I think his best acting was in THE LAST SAMURAI. What do you think?

Well, I agree with you that tom cruise is one of the fine actors we had seen in the movie world. I think that the best movie that I like where tom cruise starred is the Last Samurai. I like such kind of movies and watching a fine actor as tom cruise is a good thing. I hope to see more movies with such a good theme and a good directing. I think he captured the world by storm in Top Gun. The more serious acting was certainly The Last Samurai. It was a difficult part to act especially he had to learn to communicate in Japanese in that love affair with the widow of the warrior lord he killed.Of late, his movies did not really shine. Tom Cruise is superb in both of the movies you've mentioned. They are both my favorite movies with Tom Cruise. As a vampire, he is seductive, evil, and humorous. And as a samurai warrior he is intense, fierce, magnetic and brave. [dasani]
Tom Cruise has developed superb acting abilities. He excelled best in The Last Samurai and in A Few Good Man. His love dramas such as Far and Away and Top Gun were light. His dark movies showed a better level of acting just like Johnny Depp. These included Interview,Minority Report and Eyes Wide Shut. I though he was having a whale of a fun as Ethan in The Mission Impossible series.Sadly until now, he has yet to appear in any good movies. [jonjee0203]
Dear jonjee, Whenever Tom Cruise is mention, the first movie that strike my mind is 'Top Gun!. This is the first time I got to see the handsome actor act as the pilot...his boyish - crew cut looks melt many girls' heart..wub..not long after Top Gun, he acted in my favourite 'type of story' when the world stock / equity markets' are 'hot' - the movie starring Michael Douglas (another of my favourite and respected actor - act as 'Gekko') ~ THE FIRM.. Since then, I followed most of his movies. He can carry his characters given very well, no wonder he is one of the highly paid actor in Hollywood ! [Iriene88]
I think Tropic Thunder is quite funny and you can see how Tom Cruise actsvery relaxed there. I even don't notice it is Tom Cruise until the ending! Despite his weird behavior which at some points hurt his career (the reason why MI3 is a flop despite having a positive critics), he won't give up that easily. His resurgence in Tropic Thunder and Valkyrie (I think it is surprisingly good since it received many bad buzz before released to public) prove that he is still one of the greatest and bankable actor on earth. I actually prefer more of Cruises early movies rather than his more recent stuff. I think the first movie I saw him in was "Legend" followed by "The Outsiders", "The Color of Money" and of course "Top Gun". But for me my favourite Cruise movie has to be Rain Man because it is such a great story and showed his ability at a young age to play a wider range of characters rather than just the Hollywood Hunk. I watched many Tom Cruise movies, especially his 90s and 00s movies. I really like his Mission Impossible series, I think it is a smart spy thriller movie which been rarely seen nowadays since many movies use special effects to enhance the action. I also really really like Minority Report since it is one of the most groundbreaking sci-fi movies of the decade. Communication with hands moving through all the screen which shows events in different places? Super cool! I really want to see the movies from his early days which launch his career like The Color of Money and Rainman. I think Top Gun is mediocre although I know why it become such a favorite until today.
