Whos Been On A Cruise Ship Before

I really want to go on a cruise somewhere but I'm not certain how much they are. Has anyone gone on a cruise before? Where did you go & how much was it? Also, is the cost of food you on the ship included in your entire cruise ship package or do you have to pay seperate for that?

I have but it's been a really long time ago. We went to the Bahamas. I can't remember how much it was to go, but I do remember the food was included, and it was good too. [vmoore709]

I haven't but I hope to someday... I'd like to on a cruise through the Carribean. [FraYFaN09]

I have been on many. So far all have included food/drinks. Best one by far is the Alaska cruise. I would stay away from Carnival Cruises. I found the food sucked, service was not up to par and the entertainment was very cheap. [Desdemona]
Yeah I was hoping to go on an Alaskan cruise. That's my top preference but I'd go on any cruise at this point. I've also hear iffy things about Carnival Cruises too. [janegosford]

well I went on a cruise from flordia to bahamas but I had a vaction package and it was 100 dollars per person and include 1 meal going and one meal coming back this was only a 6 hour cruise I never did anything else cruise wise [Crystalwatson345]

Cruises are fabulous! I have been on several and it is the only way to vacation. Your price includes everything except your beverages and tips...so it includes your cabin, food, and all onboard entertainment. Tips are paid once at the end of the cruise...most cruises leave envelopes under your door for those you should tip with the recommended amounts noted on the envelope. To save on the beverages, buy a drink ticket. A soda ticket will be one fee for all you can drink and is very reasonable (I think it was $18 per person). You can also buy an alcohol ticket (I think that is $35 a person...but am not sure). You will pay extra if you take any off shore excursions but to just get off at the ports and shop or sightsee on your own is free. The entertainment on most cruises is fabulous. You can do as little or as much as you want to do. I recommend taking the early seating at dinner so you are hungry for the midnight buffet. The midnight buffer it usually something different every night and very special (for example: international night: foods from all over the world; dessert night: yes, all desserts!; etc.) Prices vary depending on length of cruise, where you are going and the cabin your choose. An inside, lower deck cabin is always the cheapest and can be for as low at $550 for a 4 day cruise. You can also pay several thousand for a deluxe suite on certain cruise lines (Silver Seas...for the older, wealthier crowd is extremely pricey!). If you are single and young, you will probably prefer a Carnival Cruise. If you want only 4 days of cruising, you will want NCL Cruise Lines as I think they are the only ones who offer a short cruise. NCL was the first cruise we went on...we had won the 4 day cruise and we were hooked! I prefer Royal Caribbean as they have oodles of entertainment, offer lots of on shore excursions, cabins are very nice, service is wonderful, etc. [ilse72]
If it winds up being an Alaskan cruise I might just start bugging you for some more info! :) [janegosford]

I would love to go on a cruise ship if I ever get the money. Mostly because they are one of the very few vacations you can go on and have everything included. [srhelmer]

be gentle and do it with your heart [jaginfo2006]

Some ofthem have the food included... Best is you should ask te travel agency you bay thetickets from, so you will not have any surprises! [gabrriella_a]

I just went on my first cruise over Thanksgiving and it was one of the best vacations that I have ever taken. I did so much and yet there were some many other things that I didn't get to do. I have been on other vacations where it seems like we are eating all the time and feeling full constantly. On the cruise I felt like I was eating all the time but I never felt overwhelmingly full. It was Great!! [pezhead]

I just got back from a cruise last week! I went over Thanksgiving! I had always wanted to go on a cruise also, so I was very happy with the results from it! I went to Mexico out of Long Beach, CA and it was $399/person. The cruise was 4 days long. It was awesome!! All the food is included in the price of the cruise except for alcohol and soda. But you can have all sorts of juices for free. It was a great vacation and I totally recommend it to anyone looking. There is a site called www.vacationstogo.com and they have a 90 day ticker with discounted prices, so if you can be flexible you can get a good deal. There is a 7 day cruise around hawaii for $300 that is a steal!!! Good luck and happy cruising!! [Random1]
