Do you feel stranded so to say where you are living? And is it bothering you that you travel way less than you would have liked to be able to? This is the biggest bother in my life, and hope to get the possibility to travel all around the world, and soon, while I am still young and in a reasonably fit shape. Most people start their travelling around when they retire, but I do not wish to wait that long, and travelling when not fit and healthy enough.
What about you, and what would it take for you to make the longest travel of your life? And is it the work you have stopping you, and not be able to afford it, or some other reason?

I would definitely want to travel the world if given the chance. It is really a dilemma for me, because while I'm using young and healthy to do more staff, I lack the financial support to go see the world. Now it is work to support the family, the kids, their education etc. But when I wait till retirement to save enough money and when the kids have grown up and be independent, by then I'll be old and won't have the energies to do as much as compare to now. I would travel around the world if I could. I cannot afford it right now, and I doubt I ever will be able to afford it. That's just common sense for me. But if I had the money to travel in a way that would make it easy on my health, I'd do it in a heart beat. [AmbiePam]

Well there is still plenty of time for you my friend, and I wish you luck with your ambitions. Most people here in the UK do their travelling when they are still quite young - taking "gap years" between School and University, or after Uni and before starting their career. And we go travelling/back-packing all over the world, in much the same way as so many kids from Australia and New Zealand go their great European Tour when they are young. For me, the chance and opportunity to travel is the greatest gift in the world, and one which our generation and those in the future, have got, and which our ancestors did not. I've been pretty much everywhere in the world - all over Europe, the Middle East, the States, South and Central America, South Africa and New Zealand among other places. I have also lived and worked in other countries, which obviously gives you a much better perspective than just going on holiday. I do not regret one moment of my travels - to me, travel broadens the mind in a way that nothing else can. It lets you see close-up so many different cultures and people, and helps you understand what makes other people "tick" and to become a more well-rounded person. Staying in one place all your life narrows things down so much - you only live once - spread your wings and enjoy it! You certrainly won't regret it! Thanks for a great discussion! [rosie_123]

Of course I want to travel around the world if there's really is a chance and there's lots of money to spend for it. I want to see for myself the people, their culture, and experience a different environment in other countries. I already have been to Singapore twice, been to Indonesia, Malaysia and recently Canada. The expenses were paid by family - sisters, brother, my hubby. I still want to see other countries in asia like Thailand, Vietnam, China, Japan, India. I like to go to USA and Australia. I'd like to have European tour. I really wish I have all the money to afford these travels, or at least to have some sponsors for these travels... haha....I wish all these dreams come true. For me at the age of 53 I don't think there's enough time left in my life to fully enjoy a trip around the world. I would need many many years to throughouly enjoy a trip like that. Now I could easily enjoy a year long trip to either Egypt to see the Cairo Art Museum and all the natural wonders there including the Nile river. Or a year long safari type trip to Africa. I also would need a good year for a visit to the Philippines as well. At least a year or more to get a good sight of India as well. Too much to see, take in, and learn at various countries. But I would love a trip for a long time to someplace like I have mentioned. I would prefer to stay in a country like I mentioned above this long so I could really learn and liove their culture to get the full experience and feel for those countries is all. The way you'd like to see it however sounds more like an explorer, and not just a visitor. Yes, it is a dream to be able to travel around the world. Visiting many places across the globe, learning different cultures and meeting people from all walks of life is one of the things I find interesting and a joy to behold. It would be a wonderful opportunity if I would be able to do that, considering affordability, of course. It makes it more fun and adventurous also and really bonding moments when done with family or friends. I think it would be pretty cool also if one can have work like that, travelling to different places at work's expense. There's this t.v. show that I get to see from time to time. It is about visiting different places. The hosts of that show, I think, have an awesome job because they get to do business and pleasure at the same time. I am glad that I went around the world for a year when I was 20. Plenty of people want to do this but waiting until they retire. This is not a good idea, poor health at this sort of age is a possibility. So many people in their 20s and 30s have a steady career and feel that it would be a bad idea to leave it. Also at this time many people have children and settle down to family life. Then they are no longer interested in traveling. The perfect age to travel around the world is aged 18 to 21. I went to Los Angeles, Hawaii, Fiji, Sydney, Adelaide, Cairns, Darwin and Singapore. From Singapore I visited Indonesia and Malaysia. I had a boyfriend in Australia and we got married. I think the year away from home gave me the love of travel for life, developed my patience and understanding of people. Since then I have been to many other countries. I am glad that travel is one of my favorite hobbies. When I am older I hope to go around the world a second time. [maximax8]
Hi Maximax8, and great for you that you have seen so much of the world :)When one goes to travel while being young they do so on a limited budget and mostly backpacking. And even so, the money could be a problem for the population of most of the world, exceptions made for people with rich parents, so it's easier said than done. The adveturous young people take the possibility to travel and work around, which is the best way according to me, but it takes a very long time too. Of course I would travel the world that's what I love to do best is to travel. I've been to a lot of places but I still have tons of places to go. When I was working in the 9-5 rat race I would only travel during my vacations. If you make it a point to save up to do it then the money part is not that hard. If it's a priority you will find a way to make it happen. [dreamy1]

Who can you trust to take care for it? And if you rent it, how do you know when you'll be back, and find everything as you left it? I've been all over the US and been to Canada and Mexico. The only thing stopping me from going overseas is the fact that I'm terrified of flying! I would love to be able to visit Europe and Australia and Asia but I just don't think I could do it. If I ever got the opportunity, like I won a contest for a trip around the world, I'd have to ask my doctor for something to keep my nerves calm while on a plane or I wouldnt' be able to do it. Right now our finiancial situation stops us from doing the traveling I'd like to do. I've been to 36 out of the 50 states in the US but I'd like to make it 50, Hawaii might be a problem however.. I wouldn't be able to do this anytime soon. Unfortunately we haven't the financial means to make this happen. Even if we could afford such a vacation, I would not want to travel the globe. There are places that I would like to see. Those places would be high on my list. [ElusiveButterfly]

My answer is a big YES!!!I really want to go to other places and see its beauty and meets other people. I want to feel the freedom of being free and not like a bird stack in one place. I want to go anywhere to feel life when I have still the strenght to travel. Like you said I do not want to travel when I'm old. But sad to say that dream of mine is will take years to happen. Definitely i would love to travel. But not just a trip around the world. I once dreamed of being an astronaut cause i'm fascinated with the sky, the universe, planets, extra-terrestial and the likes. so i would travel in outer space.
